My tonsills have become infected, AGAIN! :| 2nd time in 3 weeks..

Hurts soooooo bad right now. Can't speak, swallow, barely breath (throat is dry, so it hurts to breathe.)...

I have a SOG Tigershark that I'm sure is sharp and long enough to get the job done, and a blow torch that can heat the blad hot enough to sterilize and cotterize the flesh. And it couldn't possible hurt as bad as it does regularly.

So how do I do one?

(I'd go to the doctors office, but it's closed. I'd go to the emergency room, but I don't wanna :p. I'll probably go tomorrow, if I'm still alive.

Step one: Go to a doctor!

Like I said... I would, but their office is closed. I'm looking for a good, quick, instant gratification solution.

Beau, I read your post but if you really feel that your tonsils need medical assistance, posting about a SOG Tigershark and a blow torch and the like is just the wrong alley to drive though. If you're well enought to post on ATOT, then please go the the emergency room. I hope truly hope you take my advice.

Yeah, I'll probably do that, just hate paying that emergency room fees. Tigershark sounded more manly anyway ;) :D

Why do people post here with serious medical conditions?

If you read my post, you'll see that I was making a funny statement. Yes I have tonsillitis. Yes I am going to the doctor. I was trying to be humerous.

When I was in Vt I went ice fishing. This guy had a gas powered auger that went through about 4 feet of ice. No kidding. If you can find one of those, I suspect it would do the trick.

Some are doing it with lasers.
apparenlty it's pretty painless.
There are really no conclusive studies that show its less painful, the 'painless' and 'bloodless' laser surgery notion is really little more than a marketing gimmick by doctors who dropped a half-million dollars on a laser and need to have a steady flow of patients to pay that bad boy off.
my nephew was home and talking like the next day.
The average post-operative LOS for conventional uncomplicated tonsillectomy in children is overnight if not less. Its often done on an out-patient basis.

Oh, and try gargling with very warm salt water. Not hot but very warm...on the verge of hot.

I do sympathize with you though. 2 weeks ago this past Friday I had extensive throat surgery. One of the things done was to remove my tonsils. I feel much much better. I get to brag because they were the largest and nastiest tonsils this doc ever saw at Mass Eye and Ear, which considering he has removed thousands of them says something. Boy do I feel better :D

LISTEN TO ME: My sister had tonsil infection problems all her life. One day last year she developed tonsilitis yet again, and it was really bad this time. Her tonsils abcessed (her body basically cordoned them off and filled them with lymph fluid) and she couldn't swallow...she had to spit into a cup.

My parents took her to the ER, and the doctors there poked SYRINGES INTO HER TONSILS WITH NO ANAESTHETIC to drain the fluid. This is because my parents and sister waited too long to go to the ER. Don't let that happen to you; my sister said it was hands down the worst pain of her LIFE.

Go to the ER. I have no sympathy for what they do to you if you don't go tonight.
