Anyone use Impulse to buy games before?

Just curious.

Bought my first game the other day (Grand Ages: Rome Gold), but never got it. Did all the software installing and other stuff, no luck.

Tried for a couple days to get support, no luck.

Talk about appreciating places like Steam, Gamer's Gate and Direct 2 Drive. They work like a dream compared to Impulse. The whole setup is clunky too.

Anyway, just wondering. I put in a PayPal dispute since no one is home over there or just doesn't care. I usually like doing a small purchase to test services out. This one failed for me.

I have used it for Galactic Civ II. Had similar issues with getting it to work. I deleted everything, re-installed the downloader and the game, and was finally able to make it work. That's about my only experience.

I have but not since they were purchased by gamestop. There was a recent email about an update to their client - perhaps the changes are buggy ?

Seems like just buggy software. Finally heard from someone. They used my PayPal address for the game, not the email I listed on my order/account (odd).

However, the system isn't sending or re-sending the activation email, so I'm just spinning my wheels. I'm sure it will eventually work out at some point, but unless there's like a $30 savings on a game, I'll stick to other services.

Oh well.

I've used that service since Galactic Civilizations and never had a problem. I only own like 4 other games from there and still no problems. I haven't bought anything since GameStop took over though.

Used it while it was SD's service, purchased GalCivs and SoaSE + expansions, worked beautifully (and still does), but I have no incentive to purchase anything else through there since it is a part of Gamestop.

I have it for Stardock Games only, as it was pretty much required for download--Galactic Civ, SoaSE, Elemental, and I only have it for those games.

Ever since Gamestop bought Impulse from Stardock, I haven't considered purchasing anything from them.

....I'm hoping that Stardock will somehow make their games available on Steam and I can port the license keys to steam. ...though I don't see how that's possible. :\

Yeah, it's just turning into a mess. They are going to move the game to another account I had to set up. But, I have to send in two serials, two purchase numbers, address, blah blah blah. Still not sure why they didn't just validate my email on the original account so I could log in and be done with it.

Was never sent my serial # either, so this should be fun.

Picked up the Stardock titles from it - GalCiv, Sins, Demigod, etc. But nothing since being bought by Gamestop (only because I know if I wait long enough the same titles will be on sale cheaper on steam).

I have about 20 games or so on Impulse. I have had some issues with it though. If you buy it using a different e-mail address than what your account is linked to, it doesn't show up. In that case you either have to call them, write them an e-mail, or you may be able to add it manually with the purchase code given in the e-mailed receipt they send you.

I haven't used the system since Stardock sold it to Gamestop however, so I don't know if their customer support is as good as it was under Stardock.

Was great before Gamestop bought it. Afraid to use it since.

Seems to be the consensus. The support is a bit lacking. Never heard back from my earlier reply. Glad this isn't a game I wanted to play within a week of purchasing it. 😉

Lesson learned.

I bought one game off Impulse before the GS days and it never would download, just kept giving me errors, so I never bought another.

I went to fire up the client for my stardock games I purchased awhile back, and... couldn't log in.
Tried to reset the password, nothing.
Wrote a e-mail to them, and still no response. 🙁

Sounds like many people have troubles. I never heard back from them after sending them all that data. So looks like the usual response is averaging 2 business days. Awesome. 🙂

I've grabbed games from Steam, Direct2Drive, GamersGate, and Green Man Gaming, but never Impulse. I'm tempted to go with them for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, though, because apparently Gamestop is the only retailer allowed to sell the version with the bonus mission.

I haven't bought from them in quite awhile, the only titles I have are the Gal Civ series and Titans Quest, never had any issue with them.

I've only bought Stardock titles from them before Gamestop bought it. Now I wont use it at all unless it is a Steamworks title. I never really cared for it that much, but didn't have a choice to play sins and galactic
