I think they're well worth the money. I paid $125 for my Whip-style vaporizer. I enjoy the taste waaay, way more. I love the way that even after ~10 hits, it still tastes green, not cashed. You've just gotta learn for yourself about your specific vaporizer. No one can tell you what to set the temperature to, because all "products" can be effective at different temperatures. (Depending on density, dryness, etc.) Sometimes I set mine to 260*F, sometimes I'm up to 320*F. I'm a big proponent of vaporizers, but I smoke enough to make it a good investment. I also keep the vaporized product in a baggy to use for filler in "cigarettes" if I'm running low.

Also, on the note of those Gravitrons. Those fuck you up. Period. Makes you cough your balls off. I've sworn to only use those 1-2 times a year, because they are dangerous to me. I don't think I've ever gotten as baked on anything else.

Bought one last night - similar to the $50 ones on ebay but paid $100 local (yay to supporting a local business and not getting weird shit in the mail). I tried it at 375 to 415 and ended up scorching things (this is what the seller recommended). I'll experiment in the future but i can see the potential - thanks for the advice!

eh... for me the effectiveness wore off after a while. to me, nothing beats a nice bong (i like HVY because they are resilient). but recently a friend of mine started using the ceramic heating element of a soldering iron instead of a lighter to get a cleaner smoke, seemed to work well, and works similarly to a vape.

I actually don't smoke marijuana at all. I think I have a strong desire to, however.
