I still use winzip, but I guess there's not really a point...win xp has zip built in. I don't do anything complex, just zip and unzip .zip files. is there any point to having winzip on there?
i use rars too often thus winrar is still there
at work no installs of winzip are around though in favor of xp zip isntead. Once we did a tutorial on how to zip your own files anyone who did have it uninstalled it
I use WinRAR all the time as it tends to give better compression I've found.
When I play a game and finish it/get bored, I zip it up and delete the original directory to save some space.
HL2 save files can be shrunk to around 1/7th of original size when RARed up. UT2004 maps are also highly compressable.
Big space savings can be had.
I still use winzip, I find Windows versions of programs to be lacking in various ways vs. their competition, even when said competition is free (ie. FireFox).
I second the 7 zip vote 🙂 I am contemplating eliminating winrar entirely even though I rarely use it now... I love the extract files shell extension of 7 zip... I need to easily select where I want things extracted without opening up a program that's always going to have the wrong default directory
