Anyone sticking to current gen systems for a while?

That is very true, and one of the things I want to find out about. I have been given permission to get both consoles at launch, but I really don't know if I want to do that. I could use some of the money for the second console towards getting a bunch of launch games.

🙁 Why do we always need permission??

That was my favorite moment in the Joe/Major Nelson interview :

Joe "What about the 24h check in, it would be easy to turn that off"

Nelson "REALLY? ARE YOU ON THE DEV TEAM?"

HAHAHA anyone with a brain knows that it's just an artificial setting that could be turned off with ease. Same deal with the 'activation' for each game/etc.

As much as MS has been pissing me off, and XBone looks like a huge fail to me, I *DO* think they'll patch it out down the line. That's going to be the first day I actually consider the XB1. When I know I'm not on a timer to play my games, or tied to paying for XBL when I don't GAF about playing MP on console at all.

To be fair, you really can't say if you weren't on the dev team. First off, not all dev teams are the brightest - you can make something that is simple real complicated, real fast.

If the dev team boiled it down to a "return true to continue" then yeah, should be easy.

Ultimately it should still be easier than actually implementing it. If they put that much work into screwing customers, they can put an equal or lesser effort into helping them.

I can think of a bunch of reasons to get a console, and most of them have to do with the Sony exclusives that you never get on PC.

As a heavy PS3 gamer I can say without any hesitation that there are no games Sony has exclusive rights to that are worth paying hundreds, hell thousands when you include my wife and kids, of dollars to play. Quite frankly, I think I am just to the point where I am going to stick with PC for awhile until these stupid console companies pull their heads out of their collective asses and stop pretending like they're offering something a PC doesn't.

good luck finding uncharted, the last of us, ratchet and clank, resistance, motorstorm, hot shots golf, and killzone on pc.

I'm sticking with my 360 Slim, as it's pretty much just for Rock Band custom songs and Forza now. Maybe Sony may entice me with the 4, but I just spent a bunch of cash upgrading to Haswell, so I'm done buying hardware for now. (Steam sales, on the other hand...)

So far, yes, I do plan to. I can wait an extra 6 months to a year after launch to see what happens.

I really wish they would of dropped the ps3 price to $199 at e3, game stop offered me $190 in trade credit for my 360 slim 4gb and my games. I know soon as I buy a ps3 for $250 it will go down in price. I have to do something soon tho, I know that much before my trade ins plummet in value. Hell a used ps3 is still $230 for a 250gb slim. I was really hoping to not come out of pocket and do a straight trade. I was close but no cigar lol.

Gran turismo, halo, god of war, forza, most fighting games, pretty much any sports game.

Oh and a little game called Destiny that is not going to be on PC at launch.

Today, tomorrow, 20 years from now, it doesn't matter: thousands of dollars in games with no resell value have a potential to go poof without the owners permission.

This is true. Consoles/games will no longer be collectible, anymore than music is in mp3 format.

Lol, it was a joke. She did ask me this weekend if I am wanting both and I told her I wanted the PS4 for sure, and I would keep an open mind on the xbox, but since my xbox friends aren't moving on right away I wasn't in a rush. She told me it would be ok if I got both at launch. But, I just don't know if I will. That's a lot of money that I can A)use to buy my kids even more shit for christmas B) buy a few launch titles for the PS4. I will probably go this route, but it's nice to know that I have the option.

I'm sticking with current gen for at least a few months after launch of PS4/XB1. Any launch system I've had has been coupled with weak launch games. No point in rushing out to get the new system in my opinion (unless looking to resell).

Why throw out the baby with the bath water? I still play all my systems pretty equally, going back to the SNES. I'll stick with my 360 until I burn with desire for some new game.

There are a couple titles I want on PS4 though so for me it's very worth having. A buddy of mine is buying one because the PC I built for him is old, and to upgrade the video card for Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs is almost the price of a PS4. So he is buying a PS4.

Can you still play Halo and Halo 2 online on original Xbox?

You could never play Halo 1 online on the original Xbox. Well, technically you could through a third-party online service, but it was not Live-enabled. I did it one or two times back in the day and it was a lagfest.

System link was where it was at. My brother and I owned an original Xbox and we'd have friends over to bring their Xboxes and get like 12 people all playing just in our house. Too bad more and more games are ditching local multiplayer and trying to go online multiplayer only.

I still own all my old consoles. Got a Genesis, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Colour, PSP, PS2 PS3, DS, 3DS, and Vita. Same for my games.

There's lots of great games on the PS3 that I would hate to give up. So yes, it will be part of my living room for the foreseeable future. I did pre-order a PS4 but it will take a while to build up a library for it. Especially since there's nowhere to rent anymore.

I know I will, i got 100 or so games i got off gamefly sales or EBAY I havnet played yet. Since i wont be doing that next gen..

As if I would miss any of them. Sony is already giving away Uncharted 3 because it was such a letdown, the online was pathetic, and Killzone hasn't been good since KZ2 got ruined by cheaters. I assume you are just trolling with the hot shots gold and ratchet and clank references, but the entirety of your list just proves what an absolute sham console "exclusives" really are.

The real truth is that I am telling the truth for anyone that wants to listen.

For the same amount you will spend on your PSbox, and annual online fees, you could build a computer capable of so much more that could still play the same games....probably at a higher resolution.

The only really surprise with anything I am saying is that nobody in the media has bothered pointing it out, which only once again proves the gaming (and overall) media is nothing more than a glorified advertising agency.

no ... it can't, and i just gave you a huge list of games it can't play.

just goes to show how clueless you are about the console world if you think people dont like uncharted, killzone, and ratchet and clank games.

People play Hot Shots Golf?

I guess it must be true, since they keep making them (I assume). But I doubt they get played by anyone I care about.

The real truth is you aren't a gamer. You seriously think Ratchet and Clank was mentioned as a joke? You think Uncharted 3 got such universally high review scores cause it sucked? Yeah right...

I'm with Purebeast on this one 100%.

The launch window (until March 2014) lineup on the PS4 looks very weak, so I think I'll put off getting that. I'll probably get the PS4 mid to late 2014, if there are some decent exclusives on there.

Now with the PS4 being x86, I am wondering if more games will be on PC as well. MGSV is supposedly coming to PC. I've heard rumors of FFXV and KH3 coming to PC as well. If so, maybe I won't need a PS4 at all?

I already have a Wii U, and it is getting a bunch of games this holiday season+spring 2014. If the Wii U has a price drop soon, which I would expect since $360 is too close to the $400 PS4, then it may be a good console to pick up.

I Checked it out today and admit few games on it interest me tbh.

Prodigy the ps4 is 400 bucks, not 700. Saying it needs the eye and second controller isn't fair since the PC lacks them. Other than games that will never be on PC the console will still be the best thing going in five years whereas a five year old PC is very long in the tooth.

Few games on either system interest me, however there are more on the Xbox that do, but no, not going there. Considering I can't keep up with the games I have as it is, there is no rush.

Real gamers DO go back and play their back catalog of games on systems they never go to. If you think otherwise your first system was last gen or you aren't a real gamer.

or since there is limited time you want to play new stuff instead of playing stuff you've already played...

I can guarantee none of the games you listed will be on PC.

The WiiU is getting mario kart, pikmin, wonderful 101, bayonetta 2, Mario 3d world, and smash bros. That's it The other games are gonna be on every system and PC. That's not a bunch of games and it's not even really a bunch of good games. There's two interesting titles, two sequels, and a mario 3d land clone for the Wii U.
