Anyone sticking to current gen systems for a while?

Was wondering how many people are sticking with the current gen and if so how long and why?

I have a funny way of doing consoles, this is what I did this gen. Bought a 360 and played the snot out of it, now that Last of us has came out I am trading in my 360 and my games and getting a 250gb PS3 and the last of us tomorrow.

There are so many games I haven't played on PS3 and now they are a bit old, this gives me time to see if there are issues with the new consoles and I get to play a bunch of current gen exclusives and get them for dirt cheap.

Plus GTA 5, all the sports games, COD and BF4 will still come out on current gen. This gives me more then enough time to save up cash for the PS4, plus the launch titles will be cheaper too by the time I get ready to buy the new system and my PS3 will just be used for blu ray in the living room.

I'm keeping my PS3. I have a lot of games for it and it has games coming out on it that I want to play. I have a PS4 preordered as well.

The next "big" game that is PS3 exclusive I think is Beyond Two Souls which should be pretty awesome.

I see no reason to get rid of it when PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility, the system is a good media hub for stream, and a good blu ray player as well.

Getting a PS4 on day 1, but I will probably keep using my PS3 until I have a reason to take it down and replace it with the PS4.

I'll be keeping my 360 and PS3, just as I kept my original XBOX. I don't have that many games for the 360, but i will keep it around until I no longer use or have a need for it. I will keep my PS3 for a blu-ray player in the bedroom.

I waited until I could get an Xbox 360 for $200 and then I waited until the Black Friday had a PS3 bundle for $199. I will continue on this path, perhaps minus the Xbox One. I'll wait and see what happens when the dust settles.

I have a PS4 on order but I have a fightstick that would be no good on it from what I'm hearing. That doesn't mean I'll keep my PS3, I doubt it would get much usage after November. I'm not necessarily sold on Beyond Two Souls. Last of Us may be my last full game I play through. Not sure yet.

I am also thinking I'll give it to a relative if I don't use it. It makes a great Blu-Ray player and streaming box if nothing else.

Heck, I'm still on my PS2, and likely will still be for awhile, at least until I can get to building my desktop in the near future.

I was thinking about it but then thought about not being able to play games online, microsoft is gonna shutdown 360's live service when x1 comes out.

I'll be waiting. Launch console bugs, no cheap games for at least 6-12 months, and I have lots of other games to work on in the meantime.

If I got a system on launch, I'd just (attempt to) resell it. But since I'm not a douche, I didn't pre-order.

PS3 is going out with a cosmic fucking bang this year:

Ni no Kuni
The Last of Us
Tales of Xillia
Kingdom Heats 1.5 Remix HD
Final Fantasy X / X2 HD
Time and Eternity
Dragons Crown
The Witch and the Hundred Knights
The Guided Fate Paradox
Disgaea D2
Beyond Two Souls

Only took all of the entire generation, but finally some modern games I can look forward to. When it rains it pours. About damn time. Seriously 10 years of drought then BAM all at once.

Two are remakes but Ill take what I can get.

Preordered a ps4, but as I've never owned a ps3 and there are some good exclusives it's conceivable I'll delay ownership and swap 360 for ps3. I am hoping we see a drop in price in next month or so on PS3, they have to drop its price soon.

There is no way in hell MS shuts down Xbox Live service for the 360 when Xbox one comes out, no chance whatsoever, Microsoft is still touting it as something to buy even when xbone is out.

As we have seen, the big boys tend to support the previous gen systems for at least a few years after the current gen starts. I may be sticking with my ps3 and catching up on a lot of content I missed. I don't like the pay for online and other money grubbing features of "next" gen, plus I already have a nice PC that requires none of that mess, also there are quite a few games on PC you just don't get on consoles. I guess the more I think about it the more I realize there's just no reason to have a console if you have an up to date PC.

ill most likely have my 360 and ps3 hooked up for quite a while after next gen starts. there are a few ps3 games that i haven't finished yet and not sure if i will finish it by then. 360 will definitely be hooked up for the fighters that i love. then xbox1 will get a spot in the a/v rack for the next gen stuff. if i ever stop playing hot shots golf, that is when ps3 will get unhooked, or if one comes out on ps4 and i have to get me a ps4.

I'll get The Last of Us and that will probably be my last purchase for this generation of gaming. I'll wait for the prices to drop and the bugs to get shaken out of the next gen before going in. Maybe by then MS will have developed a cohesive plan, because right now they're on a self destruct mission. (Couldn't help but get in that little dig at MS.)

Can you still play Halo and Halo 2 online on original Xbox?
That's different from what the person that he quoted said. J said they will shut them down once the X1 comes out, which isn't going to happen. If they shut it down, it will be years down the road.

I can think of a bunch of reasons to get a console, and most of them have to do with the Sony exclusives that you never get on PC.

Today, tomorrow, 20 years from now, it doesn't matter: thousands of dollars in games with no resell value have a potential to go poof without the owners permission.

Well, 360 SP will still work. MP dies either way on almost all games (lol can still find Doom MP online even now).

XB1 tho, lol yeah even SP will be coasters if they don't patch it out.

That is very true, and one of the things I want to find out about. I have been given permission to get both consoles at launch, but I really don't know if I want to do that. I could use some of the money for the second console towards getting a bunch of launch games.

That was my favorite moment in the Joe/Major Nelson interview :

Joe "What about the 24h check in, it would be easy to turn that off"

Nelson "REALLY? ARE YOU ON THE DEV TEAM?"

HAHAHA anyone with a brain knows that it's just an artificial setting that could be turned off with ease. Same deal with the 'activation' for each game/etc.

As much as MS has been pissing me off, and XBone looks like a huge fail to me, I *DO* think they'll patch it out down the line. That's going to be the first day I actually consider the XB1. When I know I'm not on a timer to play my games, or tied to paying for XBL when I don't GAF about playing MP on console at all.
