Meh. I think the orginal ending was better but not by much. I never read the book but I did see the other two movies which weren't bad.
The Last Man on Earth and The Omega Man. I've seen the latter several times on TV so not necessarily unadulterated and also many years ago but it was good fun as a kid. The former I saw the theatrical release of only recently. Although clearly low budget and suffering from too much of Mr. Price driving around in his station wagon (even if intended to convey the monotony of his existence), it at least touched more upon the notion that Neville himself was a monster who preyed upon the infected during their helpless sleep. I Am Legend barely hints at this aspect and instead portrays him simply as hero. The alternate ending sloppily stabs at it but is just too unbearable.

3rd request for someone to give some cliff notes for those of us at work who can't watch it.....

Ending starts the same: the zombie is trying to break into the safe glass unit while Will Smith and the chick are inside. All of a sudden he stops breakin in and makes a butterfly shape with the heat of his palms on the glass. Will notices the the butterfly tattoo on the zombie he has in the glass unit and after a second he tells the chick to open the door she says "why" he says "because im listening".
He rolls out the chick he's semi healed and the zombies aren't attacking him because the zombie leader (one breaking into the glass is making noises i guess to leave Will alone). The zombie leader screams in his ear, Will reaches for a syringe in a drawer sticks it in the zombie girl and she comes back to life and the zombie leader and the chick do some weird zombie cuddling/kissy type shit, he breaks her off the bed and takes her away (all this time random zombie yells coming from leader) and orders the other zombies out and leaves Will alone. Will says "i'm sorry".
Cut to scene of Will and chick driving away from the town Will wouldn't leave and she's narrating something similar that Will was on the radio "blah blah blah we are surviving we are broadcasting looking for other survivors blah blah blah" they drive off into the abyss.

I will say my description is obviously pretty shitty in trying to make it exciting, don't know if the video/acting will make it seem a bit better.
And dammit I posted this I figured someone else would at least do the cliffs

why not go straight for the cliffs?
that ending left it open to sequels out the butt, but looks like no go.
i dunno the movie was good but not good at the same time...
cgi needed to be a bit more realistic i think
the alt ending didnt seem beleivable, if that makes sense, compared to all the other scenes

alt ending is way better, might have been a good movie if they had used that ending and changed back some of the dialogue also. the acting was so awesome by will smith in this movie, shame the director/producer/whoever totally dropped the ball.
Eh, no good. They should've just stopped the movie when the girl showed up. We could assume the bright light was god and he was taken to heaven for killing so many monsters.
