I saw it first thing in the morning (sometimes it's nice being unemployed ;))

I thought it was excellent. As with the X-Men movie it wasn't just fight scenes throughout the whole movie. They actually took some time to develop the characters which was nice. I thought Tobey Maguire did a pretty good job as peter/spiderman. Since others have mentioned it I guess he didn't really crack jokes as much as spiderman did in the comics. That didn't really bother me though. Willem Dafoe was excellent. I've always liked his work.

It was cool to see Bruce Cambell make a cameo....go Ash!!! By the way...was that Macho Man Randy Savage in the ring? I don't follow wrestling, but he kinda looked and sounded familiar.

If they keep the same cast and director they could go on forever with sequels which would be alright by me. I'll tell you one thing though, if they ever make a movie with Venom I'm probably going to A) Wet myself and B) Take a day off work to see the very first showing. Venom was my absolute favorite character so mark my words when I say that I WILL see that movie if/when it's created.

That was Macho Man as Bone Saw McGraw.

I'm curious, and you don't have to spoil it here, but I remember hearing that we would get glimpses of two other Spidey villians in this movie. I didn't see it yet, but I don't mind a little spoiler if someone wouldn't mind PMing me, I'm just curious who else makes an appearence.

POSSIBLE FUTURE SPOILERS:

Eddie Brock becomes Venom (yeah baby!). Missed this tonight (IMDB has a credit for this role), but will catch it on my next viewing :D
Flash Thompson (high school bully) has been rumored to be the Hobgoblin. Maybe Ned Leeds (also rumored to be "Hobbie") was also shown in the film? Betty Brant was in there (missed that one too tho, verified it on IMDB).
Harry Osborn becomes the Green Goblin.

Thanks TallGeese, I didn't think it would really spoil it, but I know there are people that like to go into a movie knowing very little about what happens.

Gracias,

Coming from a guy who knows nothing about Spiderman, I absolutely loved it. The special effects worked, the interaction between the characters worked, the humor worked, and the excitement factor worked. Also, the two hours absolutely FLEW by -- director Raimi had so much story to tell and didn't waste a single frame. Awesome pacing.

I definitely recommend it.

I saw it tonight and thought it was really good. It's nice to see 2 Marvel comic books making some success in the big screen. Who knows, maybe Daredevil and Hulk will also be as good.

I didn't catch Eddie Brock in the movie. Where was he? I did see Flash though.

Yup, I saw it today. I liked the way they develped Peter Parker's character to be the loser guy who ends up with spider powers. My only complaint is with the cable car scene at the end. It just wasn't believeable. But the film was all in all pretty good. You really get to hate the villian, Green Goblin. Dafoe pulled it off well.

My only complaint about the movie was that it was so engrossing I almost pissed myself waiting for a slow scene to make a dash to the bathroom.

Oops, I agree with everything in your post except for the above.

AGAIN POSSIBLE SPOILER

If you notice in the beginning, when they were in the lab where they were breeding the genetically engineered spiders, the tour guide was talking about the tensile strength of the spider's silk. The spider was pulling up a mouse by a silk thread. It was foreshadowing the scene with the cable car.

Excellent movie!

I never cared much for Venom or the Hobgoblin . . . if they do a sequel, they gotta do the good Doctor.

And maybe even a Blade crossover with Morbius. :p

EDIT - and you know who'd make a great Doc Oc? Anthony Hopkins.

Folks I'd like to see:

Villains
Kingpin (already in coming Daredevil movie, tho)
Venom
Kraven (BRUUUUUUUCE! Campbell would be great for this part)
Scorpion (Vin Diesel...all the way!)
Lizard

and number 1:
DOCTOR OCTOPUS (played by none other than Anthony Hopkins)

Friends
Captain America (Go Cap!)
Cloak & Dagger
Black Cat (Vavoom!)
Wasp (and any other Avengers)

Las Chicas
Gwen Stacy (maybe too late, but there's always the clone around)

I'd make sure it was signed by her, and not "autographed" by mrCide working his own "webshooter"
