anyone see spiderman yet? *possible spoilers in here*

It was worse than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was only ok. Wait till it gets in the bargin theaters or goes to DVD.

u mean william dafoe? he's one ugly mofo 😛 according to UPN9 news last nite... they said dafoe wasn't all that... but of course they were comparing him to jack nicholson (sp?) as joker.

I thought it was very well done, but Peter Parker needed a little more personality. All in all, very entertaining. I just wish they'd have ditched the Batman music. Willem Dafoe was excellent as the Green Goblin. The special effects we excellent.

Actually, I thought it was outstanding. While I
didn't care for the Batman flicks cuz they were too dark, and the Superman flix
were too cheesy, this movie had just the right balance of mystery, humor,
violence, camp, special effects and Kirsten Dunst's...well, you know. The
special effects were cool, but not over powering and there was a smattering of
foreshadowing, metaphor and irony.

Toby McGuire was acutally pretty good, however, during some of the romantic
scenes I thought it looked like Kirsten Dunst was going to fall asleep. They
did an excellent job of appealing to all ages by leaving out the gore and
making the sex subtle enough that it would pass over kids heads (for the most part).

OMG!!!

JUST GOT BACK WOW!!!

Incredible Hulk teaser is attached!

BUT THE MOVIE WAS ACTUALLY BETTER THAN THE PREVIEWS MADE IT OUT TO BE!!! Tobey Maguire doesn't actually narrate the whole frickin' movie like he does in the previews.

Classic quote: "go web go!"

EDIT: Oh yea, the first time Spider-man squirts on purpose it looks like any other guy squirting, the whole theater erupted!

I caught it at 1:50 today, good stuff. There were a lot of little kids in the audience, and when norman osborn kills the scientist, there was a lot of little kids crying (I think it startled them). The movie might be too scary for younger kids, the Green Goblin would probably give some of them nightmares.

I really enjoyed it though. The theator was pretty full for a 1:50 showing, lots of sterotypical "comic book guys" there. Some idiot behind me got two calls on his cell phone in the movie, I'd love to see the FCC legalize jammers to keep that to a minimum in theators.

While it wasn't 100% true to the comics, it was very close. The music did remind me a lot of batman though 🙂. You can tell the last scene was added in later, post 9/11. I won't elaborate, but you'll be able to figure it out as its in every TV spot for the movie.

Caught the preview for MIB II as well. Will Smith's line at the end (Well, it came with a black guy but he kept getting pulled over) had everyone in the theator laughing (myself included). Looks like one more movie I'm adding to the list I'll have to see. The trailer for XXX was also attached, and it looks like more guys can satisfy their non-sexual crush on Vin Diesal with that one. I'll take Bond, thank you very much 😀

It was much better than I thought it would be. I said that if it was half as good as the hype, it would be a great movie. It was much more than that.

<< Classic quote: "go web go!" >>

🙂 I thought the humor was folded into the story very well, unlike the batman movies where you could tell the writers needed to put in a joke. I'm considering going to the theaters again because this is one movie that actually lived up to its hype IMO.

I saw it last night at one of those sneak preview/premier deals that Hershey sponsored and I was very pleasantly surprised. It was quite well done without being over the top like the Batman movies. I never planned on seeing this movie until the free tickets fell in my lap on Wednesday. It was an actual 2 hour movie without the previews.

The movie is rated PG-13 for a reason.

Definitely a step above other superhero flicks. Raimi has reason to be proud of this one.

Special effects, fight sequences, origin all amazing. J. Jonah Jameson played excellently (who can name the actor, and what role he is more commonly known for?). Harry Osborn (son) was absolutely NAILED by James Franco (man, does he look like James Dean or what? Yeah...I know he played him in that recent TV movie).

Kirsten Dunst was a much more convincing MJ than I initially thought she could pull off. The pink dress scene in the rain is...well, spectacular (but we've all known that for some time). Still, I always associate Gwen Stacey with Green Goblin. The events in the film VERY CLOSELY track what happened to Gwen, not MJ.

The weakest moments of the film occurred between special-effects sequences, during the "interpersonal" moments, mainly because the dialogue was SO horrible.
However, I think the "defining" moments for both Peter and Harry were EXTREMELY well done, and handled with great skill. Updated a bit, but not completely wrecked like the travesty of a "defining" moment that was in the first "Batman" movie.

The COMPLETE lack of wise-cracks from Spidey is a TERRIBLE omission. I don't think he should jabber as much as he did in the comics, but Peter Parker always masked his pain & loss (which was handled superbly by Tobey Maguire) with his humor. The deadpan Peter Parker (post-transformation) doesn't ring true to me.

Cliff Robertson great as Uncle Ben, but his saying the word "ass" (3 times) added nothing to the film, despite being totally incongruous with the character, and completely contradictory in light of the important "message" he tries to tell Peter later on.

Villains (both GG and Norman Osborn--which are two separate villains, NOT a true Jeckyll & Hyde character) handled excellently by Willem Dafoe, without upstaging the hero like always happened in both the "Superman" and "Batman" franchises.

BTW: I've always thought that Willem Dafoe would have made a MUCH better Joker than Nicholson. Check Dafoe out in the movie "Streets of Fire" some time and see if you don't agree.

Had no idea "Hulk" was gonna be directed by Ang "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" Lee...sweeeet!

Can't WAIT to see what he does with that archetype!

Definitely NOT a flick for the kiddies. Same thing in the theater I went to tonight...5-6 year olds crying their eyes out. I'd say min age more like 10-11 for this one.

Yes, the ending action scene was awesome! Great effects! I really suggest you go see this movie. Its one of the few movies out that probably wont dissapoint you.

I just wanted to add that this one would easily outdo Star Wars 2 opening weekend gross if George Lucas would ever have the balls to release it on a Friday (he gets an extra day for the weekend by puttin' it out on Thursday.)

I just got back from seeing it. I loved the movie except for the end when MJ professes her love to Parker...

YOU'RE STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A DAMN GRAVEYARD AFTER SOMEONE'S JUST BEEN KILLED AND YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT LOVE?

Please...

edit: sorry about the spoiler....😉
