I don't think it's possible to have a survival game with regenerative health, which I believe this uses. Might be a fun action title, ala Half Life however.

I prefer health packs to regen health as well, but Penumbra used a combination of regen health and health packs successfully. The regen health was a slow recovery which made it work o.k.

Anyways, I am looking forward to this but I'm not going to get it until I have a DX11 GPU.

I'm eyeing this as well, as it is really an iteration of the Stalker series. And the various Stalkers, even with their flaws, really got me hooked. Not planning an immediate purchase though, as I want to see how well it'll actually work. Especially since I have one of the unmentionable company's video cards.

I'm waiting for a demo personally, I don't buy without playing it first.

I don't think the demo will be coming out for this game. The reviews are looking good at least...
A pass for me then, unless I play it a friends house or something. Though the developers did elude to a demo earlier, but they said not before the game was released.

I'm looking forward to it, been in the mood for this type of game and scenery for a little bit.

Metro 2033's devs are totally not Volition (the Red Faction devs), the guys who made Metro 2033 were originally working at GSC Game World for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, and they left GSC about a year before SoC was released to create their own studio (4A Games) Metro 2033 is their very first project, at least their first commercial one, they've probably been working on it since late 2007 or so, that's just a guess though.

I think regenerative health was a turning point of FPS gaming, but in a good way. I remember playing MOD Airborne and being thoroughly disgusted at the fact that I had to hunt around for med kits.

But for Metro the trailers look good. I'll wait for reviews and also a price drop since it's using Steam DRM.

Honestly, the latter seems more like a bonus as you don't have to deal with an additional DRM from the publisher and it even has Steam Cloud support.

Steam is good for updates and quick DLing. It is not good if you like to resell games so that is why I'll just waiting for it to get down to $25-30 or so then I'll nab it.

Will this game use DX11 effects?

It's supposed to use DX11 and Physx. It looks like it could be cool but I'm wating for a demo/reviews. Too many games look good but end up sucking. I played the demo for AvP and it made me not get the game since the demo sucked.

It sounds like Stalker in a different setting, and it's published by THQ whom I believe published the first Stalker. I'm tempted to Steam it. Might go to BB for the Reward Zone points, but I really like Steam.

It's from some guys who worked on STALKER but left before the game released and made their own company.

If you preorder before 12am EST tonight on Steam you get a free copy of Red Faction Guerrilla.

I'll have my copy tomorrow, preordered it at gamestop with some free gift cards from work. I'm looking forward to playing this one.
