if it's not single malt, it's not worth drinking :p

Yup. Though I've got to say, everytime my boss has me make a Rusty Nail with 15yr old single malt scotch, I feel like crying

I never understood the snobbery that sprung up around Scotch, particularly in North America... I enjoy Scotch neat, on the rocks, or mixed.
It's an appreciation for fine liquor.
If you're hanging out with Jessica Alba, you don't tell her to put on baggy sweat pants and a turtle neck.

If you're spending more the $100 on your particular bottle of Scotch, then by all means, appreciate it, but when it's a $15 bottle of JW... have fun... experiment... live a little...
Of course. I was refering to the 15y single malt.
A scotch snob wouldn't be drinking a $15 bottle :D

My cheap favorites...Macallen 12 year and Oban 14 year. Both are about $50/bottle. The Macallen 18 year is great and I happen to have a bottle...$100/bottle. Any of those get poured straight up or on one cube of ice.

It's definately an acquired taste. One of my friends is a Taquilla guy and likes the expensive stuff but can't handle the expensive scotch.

I'm a scotch drinker. My favorite single malt by far is Glenrothes. Not cheap, but worth it.

Tried it a couple of times and didn't care for it. Even people who like it still make a face like they've been punched in the stomach after they take a drink. I guess it is indeed an acquired taste. :p

1) The first shot of it is always strong. It is the 2nd+ drink that taste so good.

2) Buy the 80 proof stuff. It is harder to find, but it takes the edge off and that face won't occur. Yet you still get the flavor and the effects.

Perhaps you're right. I don't remember the brand that I tried, but I doubt that it was one of the best.

Yeah, the real cheap stuff has a lot more burn than the middle/high end stuff.
