Anyone know of some sort of software to clean up word documents?

Before I get hit by the wrong forums police, I've already posted it in Tech Support - no responses and 5 views in 3 hours.

Well anyways... I have this huge word document that keeps changing and it has ballooned to 40 Megs with only about 20 pages. I'm sure the size it has to do with formatting and styles. Is there any program out there that cleans up this sort of stuff, to "optimize" my work document?

Thanks!

fyi, I did not make this document initially and this is for work

Solution Found
Ahhh very simple solution based on a site through the google search aircooled gave me. I did a select all (CTRL+A) and copied the entire document, then pasted it to a new one. The size shrunk from 40 megs to .5 megs - that's pretty darn good.

this is a cut and paste:
just change the page format. Suppose that your paper is formatted for A4 paper. Go to Page Setup>Paper Size, and change the document to Letter, Legal, or some other paper size. Save it. Change it back and save it again. The file will look just the same as it did in the first place, but it will be much smaller, often by a factor of two or three.

not sure if it works....

I'd do that, but there are graphics, autonumbering, and some styles that I need to keep (fyi, I did not make this document initially and this is for work)

It's more likely the graphics are making the file huge, not the formatting.

Thanks for the offer, but it's for work so I can't send it out.

In that case, highlight the portions of the document that you want to "clean up", then choose Clear Formatting from the Style drop-down menu on the Formatting toolbar.
