Did some quick tests. 4K video plays fine on the i7-6700 from the NVMe drive. They seem to play fine over USB 3.0 too. Over the network, there was some block artifacting and slow downs, some videos worse than others. Frankly I don't remember if I differentiated on the Phenom II system. The system is all cabled so no issues with WiFi. All the cables are Cat5e or higher.Alright partner, good luck.
Re: bandwidth, yeah network or any bottleneck really.
When my buddy got a surround sound system some years ago it struggled to play certain large videos. He tried lots of things but back then his system couldn't keep up. Seems like old spinners wouldn't or couldn't buffer enough and then couldn't react fast enough to play high Def videos.
Now a stinking chromecast can do the job but back in the day high Def video was a system killer.
Well hopefully the PSU was really good quality, as I think BFG stopped making anything and went goodbye many years ago. Still, it could be really useful, if it is still in good condition with no degradation. I do recall all their parts to be pretty good back in the day. Do you know the specs on it? Is it modular?I do feel sad that the Phenom II system is no more but on the bright side realized that the power supply is a BFG 1200w. I'm sure I can use that somewhere. I'll probably use the case to build a storage server when I retire my FX8350.
Abit, Soltek, Epox, and BFG are among the names that conjure warm feels for me.Well hopefully the PSU was really good quality, as I think BFG stopped making anything and went goodbye many years ago.
