It completely depends on the tree and location. How close is it to houses, power lines, fences, etc. Also the big outfits like Davey Tree tend to change more than smaller outfits.
Just make sure that whoever does it has experience, is licensed and is insured (ask for a copy).
I have a 50-60 ft. silvermaple that just to take down the guy is going to charge me $200 (I have to dispose of everything). The only reason I am not doing it that the tree overhangs the house.
A neighbor down the street had a willow taken out and disposed of to the tune of $1200. Another neighbor has a huge boxelder that overhangs his garage, a neighbor's house and power lines. This tree is only 20 ft from both structures and is going to require a crane to assist in the removal. Cost: $2500
