I'm holding onto my 8800 GT at the moment, but I'll probably upgrade after the 4870x2 comes out. Not sure exactly what I am going to get, but I vastly prefer ATI's drivers and based on reviews it looks like there would be a nice performance increase going to a 4870.
Of course, if there is an amazing deal before that I'll probably just jump on it.

I will be holding onto my 8800GT for a while. As it stands right now it runs all the games I play without any issues. Until that changes I wont be picking anything else up.
I'm quite happy with my 2900Pro @ 800MHz, but I have to admit that the 4870 is looking pretty tempting.

Still using my 7950GT. I was able to play Bioshock and Quake Wars just fine. So I'm going to try and hold out for as long as I can. Hopefully when all the fun hits in the Fall I can upgrade.
I plan on using my MSI 8800GT OC (the one with the awesome cooler and fan) card until the ATi 4800's get better cooling. Seems they run hot and the stock fan/heatsink suck.
It's not the stock fan/heatsink that sucks, it the poorly designed drivers for them.
Mine was idling around 80c but that was because the fan was barely spinning. I modified the driver profile and got it running at 65% now and now it idle's at 50c.

If I had an SLI board I would probably grab another one just 'cuz - but nothing I do is really hampered by the 8800gt, with the possible exception of WoW when many many characters are around (at 19x12 with 4x TRSSAA). It's not _slow_ now, but the fps dip is noticable and annoying

I still have my 8800GTS 640, it still runs everygame i play at maxed or near maxed details at 1680x1050. The card is almost 3 years old now in 4 months i will have had it for 3 years.
The only game i cant run is crysis even on medium i have troubles getting 30-35 fps isnt playable at all to me and i refuse to play a game at low so thats not an option. To upgrade over 1 game tho is just silly.
TBH im suprised how long the card has lasted. Most of the big generation cards iv ever owned always lasted like 2-3 years before all my games became unplayable to me. 9700pro, 6800GT and so forth but this card im still running maxed out on most everything.
There so cheap now i was thinking of running them SLI if it comes to that. I will only upgrade if games in the future are like crysis and im forced to go below high details to medium and 4xAF 2xAA. Then I'll make the decision to get another next gen card that will hopefully last me another 3+ years.
I Tend to skip 2 or 3 generation before i upgrade. I dont understand why some people buy new video cards every 4 months it seems. They get a 9800GTX then 4 months later buy something else. Just seems like a waste of money to me.
Its like OMG! my game cant run at 240000x500000 resolution with 24xAA 24XAF on Ultra superh igh details im gonna die..... Thats what it seems like to me lol
Do you honestly need 4x AA at that resolution ? The highest i can go to is 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 and i dont notice jaggies with 2xAA on. I dunno maybe its just me.
Go to shattrath and tell me what your fps is even with 0 people, turn the max viewing distance up and i bet your fps is terrible lol

(b) cpu bottlenecked anyway
(c) have a drawer full of older games I either haven't even started yet or got part way through and haven't finished. If I mention that one of them is Deus Ex you see why I don't really need a new card yet. Some of them may not even have been that good when new, but dammit I paid for them and I'm going to play them. When I'm done then I might try this Crysis everyone keeps talking about and then we'll see about a new card*.

I've got 2 XFX GeForce 8800GTs (512MB each) and I haven't even used them yet. I'm still using my 2 EVGA GeForce 7950GTs (512 MB each) is SLI and they still rock!

I'm pretty tempted...but honestly my last several upgrades have been totally unjustified. I never had any performance complaints since I got that x1900xt and sold it for a 8800GTS and then sidegraded to a 8800GT. Now that I finally have good cooling for that I'm just going to sit on it.
Does a 3870 count?
I like it. Fast, silent (if properly adjusted... with stock settings it's terrible) and I won't gain much by upgrading to a 4850 I think, so... I'll probably be CPU limited anyway.

Same here. Actually, I'm pretty sure that my CPU (A64 X2 @ 2.65GHz) is already holding back my 8800GT to some extent...
I have almost the same CPU speed as you, and it's definitely holding back my 3870 in a few games. Crysis particularly. That's why I'm not bothering with an upgrade.
Just got my 8800GT about 2 months ago, so yes I'll be holding onto it until I can't play my normal games at 60 fps and a little eye candy.
Still holding onto my x1650 Pro for now. Looking forward to the GeForce 9500 GT coming out at the end of the month tho.

While 50c is better, you should be able to do much better then that for such a small die size. - without adding an airplane engine.

Well I went and did it. Problem now is some overheating to the point of crashing. Strangely Crysis runs with no problem, but Assass Creed with any amount of MSAA heats the suckers up and it freezes the system after 10-20 min. I've both read and watched a video of installing a cooler like the S1 and am not sure I'm up to it. Thinking about plugging in an exhaust fan in the free slot below the card and see how that goes. It's a hassle free install and only costs $5.
I've enjoyed my 8800gts and run most games i play windowed at 19x12 on my 20x15 22" crt with an hd video playing on my 16x12 CRT#2. What I've found is that, the games that will make my rig bleed aren't really what i'm looking to play. so wow and peggle it is. so far when i've wnated to do some more intense gaming (cod4, bioshock) this card has done me fine. i have added some pretty big cooling just to take care of this card. with that in mind, anyone have a cheap pci clear qam card now that my pciex1 slot is blocked?

My 8800gt plays modern games smooth enough. I don't need to upgrade and probably wont do so for another 12-18 months.
