UPS pissed me off yesterday. i wanted to send a package w/ insurance because it was very valuble. They wanted to charge 1 dollar insurance for every 100 of value. This came out to some ungodly amount like 300 bux to insure it + the overnight costs of shipping.
Come on, they are insuring themselves not to lose the package. Are they saying they lose 1% of packages b/c that would be horrible work. Just another way for them to rape me i guess.
no dice, i'm delivering the package myself on southwest, round trip only 180 bux. eat it UPS

I worked for UPS for around 3 years. Great company. Worked as a Union Loader and as a Supervisor. I don't know what that one guy is talking about that we would get yelled at for stuff that isn't our fault. I never got yelled at once. Anyway, if you have any questions PM me. It's a great company to work for. And at some hubs they pay for more than half of your tuition.

well what i'm NOT looking for is some dumb ass post like SLU MD posted. I'm wanting to know how they go about hiring? I've heard they go through the unemployment office? Position wanted = loader/unloader or driver.

Anywho, why would anyone buy insurance, they are still liable if they lose your package whether you got insurance or not.

$300 for insurance on a $30,000 item is really quite reasonable.

i'm gonna have to disagree. that means they lose 1% of packages. If they actually do that, they are running a terrible shipping company. It may sound good, but its a ripoff.
