I'm not talking about trees. I'm talking about everything else. If you want to get by in this world, you have to be clever. A piece of rope can do almost anything if you bend it the right way. The other 5% can be done with a wedge.

How many pullups can you do Gizmo?

Im not sure actually because the YMCA doesn't have a pull up bar, only a pull down machine and the park near me doesn't have a pull up bar either.

I was doing 150lb on the pull down machine, and I have this pull up band for assistance.

Enjoy Gizmo! If you have trouble with pullups I would start with forced negatives. Basically jump up to assist the pull up, and then lower yourself down slowly focusing on just resisting gravity on the way down.

If you do sets of negatives for a few days doing a pull up should be no problem. I find a lot of people that have only done lat pulldown struggle when trying to do their first pullup and this helps the transition.

You can also switch up chin ups (underhand grip) and pull ups (overhand grip) depending on which muscles you want to target. Chin ups will hit your biceps a bit more pull ups are primarily lats. Can also try different width for pull ups to see what feels best wide grip vs narrow grip. For chin ups keep your hands shoulder width or slightly closer. For pullups between shoulder width and as wide as you want to go. Someday you can work toward muscle ups.

I really like doing them multiple times throughout the day basically whenever you’re walking by the pullup bar or set a timer for every couple/few hours. I was doing 100+ pull ups a day for a couple months straight at one point with that approach

Also, please don’t buy anything else with that credit card.

So how much of this credit have you paid back so far?

I should get a $200 a month bill in the mail, $170 for the laptop and $30 for the equipment.

Do you have any plans to pay more than the minimum? Assuming the statement for $200/mo arrives soon, are you going to pay $200 x 12 or will you pay a little more maybe $300 x 8 and pay it off faster*? Why do I ask stupid questions when we already know the answer.

*IDGAFF if it's 0% for 12 months, the OP clearly has zero concept of personal finances.

Ya know, with discipline, he could pay the minimum or close to it at 0% interest, and start building a good credit history. That'll get him a higher credit line, and nicer things he can pay off working construction. Eventually, he could get a house he owns, and live happily ever after.

Either that, or be perpetually in debt, working his ass off just to keep his nose above water, and be one seasonal/economic layoff away from homelessness.

I wonder which it'll be?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that's the bare minimum. He's paying the pre-set amount that gets him 0% APR.
Also, it's a revolving balance, not a loan with a fixed schedule. So the assumption of a monthly bill for exactly $200 is most likely incorrect.

Best case scenario, he makes the timely payments and pays 0 interest on a rapidly depreciating space heater laptop. Worst case scenario, he goofs somehow and Chase hits him with interest from day 1. Even if he wrecks his FICO score, does it really matter? He's still going to ignore everyone's advice. :p

I was going to cut up this gymnastics mat to have a platform to do deadlifts on, but I'm worried my housing manager would say it's "too small" and that it's "risky" to do deadlifts on so I think I'll buy another gymnastics mat and use both of them on each side so there would be more room for lowering the bar on.

They go for $30 on Amazon, I think I'll wait until I donate plasma tomorrow to buy it.

Yeah I'm aware it's a revolving line of credit, I have the same credit card but with two differences:
1) Received $200 Amazon GC for being approved.
2) Balances paid off in full every month but I don't have fancy 0% for 12 months.

You're right he has and will continue to ignore everyone's advice.

You guys are going to be mad. 😆

I was talking with my uncle about getting a second gymnastics mat for my deadlifts, the one I already have is 1.6in thick, and the one I was looking at was 2in thick, I told him that I wasn't sure which size to get because if I get another 1.6in it wouldn't be as "strong" as the 2in. And if I get a 2in it would be slightly "unbalanced".

He offered to buy my current 1.6in mat for $30 (which is how much I paid for it), so I bought 2 of these 2in mats with my Amazon Visa which is $10-month for 6 months.

I would be very careful not to drop those weights. You could damage a residential floor pretty easy if you slam the barbell down accidentally.

That's why I got those mats, I was also thinking of getting some flat peices of wood to put on top of the mats.

Sigh... I'll play for a second. Wood on the bottom, mats on top. The mats deaden noise, and deaden momentum. Feral weights can skitter off a piece of wood. The wood on the bottom is insurance.
