It's a big ass deoderant looking stick, you rub it on body parts you want to sweat from more during workouts. It's suppose to also warm up muscles leading to a bit more fat burning while working out. I noticed it when I was in the local Nutrishop yesterday, one of the owners says he always uses it. They're not a store that has ever tried to sell me sh*t, there have been many times where both the others have told me "This is overrated" "get this instead and it's even cheaper" "this is overkill for what you're doing" So curiosity got the best of me and I headed home to Google it, and found a good number of favorable reviews. I went back to the N.S. and was talking to the owner some more about it and he told me how it really improves his circulation so he can work out harder. While I can't find hard research data to back up any of the claims on the box (improves circulation & sweat. Accelerates Thermogenic Effect. Fights Muscle Fatigue. Stimulating the sweat glands releasing built up toxins. Supports & enhances Vasodilation & energy during work out. Fights against painful injuries such as shin splints, pulls & strains) I am a bit wary of the fighting against skin splint part, but again I'm no bro scientist. And while I'd never heard the word Vasodilation, I'm not going to lie it jumped out at me and sounded like something I could definitely benefit from lol.

He gave me the disclaimer that it's not a miracle product that'll make you sweat from just applying it. But any exercises that make me sweat I'll notice a huge amount more in areas I apply it. I'm don't have a PHD, I don't even have my bro science certificate :( But I looked up the ingredients, there's nothing uber special here, but everything seems to fit together. I also read how this is basically ab improved version of Avolene(sp?) which boxers have been using for decades to cut weight.

This product's probably overkill for a person not trying to cut weight for a fight, but I bought it because I'm interested in the thermogenic effects. I actually lied to the N.S owner and said I wanted to cut weight :( I associate my sweat level with how intense my workout is. And when I sweat more it seems to motivate me to push a bit harder. It's not exactly cheap (I paid $28) but he told me it would last for a good 3 months if I worked out 3-4 times a week.

Sorry I rambled on with this post, any ways does anyone here use it? I just signed up for a free 8 day UFC Gym trial and I'm about to go see how well it actually works.

It's a gimmicky product with no backing whatsoever. If you want to work harder, work out consistently. Caffeine has a ton of research supporting it for essentially all of these benefits for exercise.

I'll be at the gym working out 4 times a week regardless, I know it doesn't have scientific backing behind it. But next to none of the supplements I use do either. And I can attest that a few make a sizable difference in my workouts. I didn't buy this as a short cut/easy way out of working hard product. It was more of something to give me a potential slight boost in my workout.

Can the placebo effect lead to you sweating more? I've been told by about a 6 people now that I'll notice a night and day difference in how much I sweat tonight at the gym. If the placebo effect can do this, I'm fine with that :D

Ummmmm you sweat to keep your temperature down. Sweating really serves no other purpose. Plus you'll just dehydrate faster.

So snake oil with a different name.

Don't get why people think sweating more will make you lose more weight. Yes, more sweat means your body is working faster and harder but in the big picture, your diet and exercise are what will affect your body composition.

It gives some people a little extra loss, nothing drastic but every bit can help when trying to shed weight. I used it today when I was at the gym, and I felt different, I was sweating like 3x more than usual, it was pouring out of me. I'm sure it can be chalked up to the placebo effect, but my workout felt more intense than usual. I was sweating like crazy amd my body didn't feel as cool as normal. I was warmer which kept me pushing on. If it was nothing but the placebo I hope it continues because it was a pretty awesome workout. And even if all it ever does is make me sweat like this I'll probably keep using it. I don't think it would be possible for me to sweat like I was today without this. So even if it's just a psychological thing, I did fell like I had a better workout after and I can't wait to go back tomorrow. I'll take placebo if it causes me to work harder :D

Sweating will not cause you to burn any extra fat. It has other benefits to it but not as a weightloss product. In fact I would say if you want to help yourself lose more weight you should be drinking more water same goes for if you want to gain weight...drink more water. Water is that stuff thats in your cells and if you want your cells to be working at max load then having water in them is of huge importance.

If you like the product then thats fine but dont get caught up in thinking it will do something that it cant. I think im going to do some situps now to spot reduce fat around my waist:rolleyes:

Sweating more seems like a really bad idea. If you need help loosening up, use liquid heat like icy hot or capsaicin cream.

The only two instances I can see someone wanting to sweat more are A) bodybuilders trying to get as much water out of their body as possible before a show and B) professional fighters needing to get down to max allowed weight at weigh-in. Neither of these are considered healthy practices.

EDIT: I guess I should specify "wanting to sweat more in a 'normal' workout." Bikram yoga is a different (and exhilarating) beast altogether, and a sit in the sauna is always nice, but sweating more during a weightlifting or cardio routine just for the heck of it? No thank you sir!
