Anyone here seen "The Town" by Ben Affeck?

It sucked. The only reason to watch it is if you live in Boston. It's pretty cool seeing all the scenes and going..."shit, I know where that is". However, the movie sucked balls.

In what aspect? I thought it was a decent flick, not a must see, but I didn't think it "Sucked balls"

I liked it. Not enough uber explosions/special effects to really demand the big screen but it was very good as a film

Did he direct this one as well? I really enjoyed Gone Baby Gone.

And Affleck has actually been in a few movies that didn't suck. I've always wondered what caused the everyone to all of a sudden dislike him anyway. Was it Gigli?

Lets see, maybe it was how Ben Afflick sounded like an Adam Sandler impression throughout half the movie.

Really, the story line is just meh. The action scenes were uninspiring. The "epic final stand off" was not epic at all.

Maybe it was the high expectations, but I left just saying, "Really, did I just pay to see this?"

The only plus was watching Blake Lively ride Afflick....

It looks like a rental/netflix to me. I don't hate Ben Afleck or anything, he's OK. I never saw Gigli so I've never seen him in a movie that was really god awful. Even that Reindeer games movie was better than most people made it out to be.

I thought it was a spectacular movie. It was slow in some places but the story kept moving and kept you engrossed. I'm absolutely amazed at Ben Affleck's talent at directing.
I would highly recommend it. By far one of the best movies this year.

Are you nuts? That's a Boston accent that he took on. And he's from there so he would know how to do that.

I actually went to the theater to see this one, since my HT is in a state of disrepair. It was not worth the $10 to see it IMO. (Maybe I'm just not used to movie theater prices... since I haven't gone in a year or so previous to this)

If you're a big Ben Afleck fan, then it's probably more entertaining.

It was kind of like a less interesting version of Heat combined with a dash of Point Break. A couple interesting scenes kept it from being worse.

I don't know what I was expecting going into the movie (since I don't watch TV and hadn't seen any previews), so I guess it was a pretty solid movie for its type.

I live in Boston and the surrounding areas my whole life....if that was his boston accent, he failed miserably. He literally sounded like Adam Sandler. It was bad. Also, the accent is for South Boston, not Charlestown.

What happened to your HT?!

dude it's ATOT, where everyone hates everything that is successful, good looking, and popular. been this way for years.

Personally, I thought it was a great movie and one of the better ones this year. We saw it a day or two after our vacation in Boston, where it opened at Fenway while we were in town (actually interfered with our trip to look around Fenway, but meh.)

As for Afflek doing in impersonation of Sandler - WTF? Afflek IS from Boston, and that's all his accent was, particularly Charlestown.

People in Charlestown do not talk like that, though......

Even though this review goes against my review, he also agrees that he sounded like Sandler...
