Anyone here seen "The Town" by Ben Affeck?

I enjoyed the movie. It's just an all-around solid movie, which sort of forces you to root for the bad guys, and somewhat villainizes the good guys. It's a simple premise, and extends it rather well. I didn't care who did the movie. It's simply well made. I'd recommend the movie (the standoff at the end needs a good sound system).

overall, the movie didn't irk me. The only movies that do irk me are ones that use deuce ex machina, or dumb computer/science explanations to further the plot (yet, i'm a huge sci-fi/action movie fan)

I thought it was just outstanding. I can't think of many other crime films that offered up this level of authenticity in character development. I have always thought of Affleck as a bit of a lightweight, but between Gone Baby Gone and The Town I'd put him in a fairly elite class as a filmmaker - both films were exceptional in my opinion.

I think The Town is certainly worth seeing in a theater, though if you have a good home theater I'm sure you'd enjoy it at home too.

People in Charlestown do not talk like that, though......

Even though this review goes against my review, he also agrees that he sounded like Sandler...

Funny, our stay in Charlestown, along with most of the pubs/restaurants we visited on that end of Boston sounded like him. But then again, being from Texas - all Boston accents sound the same if there is any distinction between the regions there.

I agree with the Don.

How the F*CK did this movie get a 90%+ rating on RT?? I just watched the extended version and holy shyt did it suck! I thought Gone Baby Gone was great so decided to give this movie a watch even though BA was starring in it only because he was directing it too, and the reviews were great on RT.

Damn i have never seen RT get it so wrong before. Absolute garbage. And a horrible Boston accent all around, to boot.

I watched it the other night (extended version). Thought it was a good movie. Worth the HD download and the 2+ hours of viewing time.

It paled in comparison to Gone Baby Gone. Like Gibson I like watching movies based in Boston but this one was meh. Come on the FBI was on to them and had them under suvelence after the first hiest yet they were able to pull off a couple of others before they were caught.

The most interesting part of the Movie for me was when they stated in the begining that Charleston per capita has more Bank Robbers than any other place in the world.

That was a lie I believe - details are on Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Town_(2010_film)

it was ok.

but i think folks who haven't seen heat are far more impressed by it....

so much is taken from heat.
