In modern times the fine layer of hair is removed from the skin by burning; however this is not completely effective and some pieces still have the hair attached.

i'd eat hogs hair too, as long as it tastes like pork rinds

when i was a kid, we raised/slaughtered our own hogs
so we got all the parts
i would bake the tails and chew on them , quite tasty

no at all. regardless of any religous issue with eating a pig, i frankly find the idea of eating deep fried pig skin to be revolting. it has tons of fat and sodium. i bet it has a pretty high cholestrol content too.

Pork rinds are ok. I prefer fresh, cajun-seasoned cracklins
Not a big fan of the rinds, fresh cracklins all the way.

WTH is a cracklin?
Fried pork skin/fat/sometimes a little meat, not puffed fat like bagged pork rinds.

Who fucking cares, most things that taste good are bad for you. Pork fat rules.

I went to a Guatemalan/Venezuelan/Colombian restaurant once where they served 1/2" thick slice of the rind with the bacon attached as an appetizer. If someone were to ever market those, they'd make a million.

Rudolph pork rind snacks are known for their crisp texture and hardwood smoked flavor. With no artificial flavors or preservatives, pork rinds are a tasty alternative to highly processed snacks. Unlike most chips which are carbohydrates, pork rinds are actually 60% protein. Because they have no carbohydrates, they can be balanced with high-complex carbohydrate, low-fat foods.

The peanut has been considered a healthy high protein snack for a long period of time. Current data indicates that 1/2 ounce of peanuts provides less protein and more fat for the same 80 calories.

Hehe, most food is good. There is some that is absolutely hideous though. But being 1/2 Puerto Rican (with not a single drop of their blood in me, my fathers mother is from France, and his father from Spain who moved to Puerto Rico in their early 20's giving birth to my father in their 30's.) My mother being full blooded Alaskan native raised primarily in American food culture since her teens. I can eat almost anything thrown at me... there are a few things that cross that line however. I can eat anything from raw freshly killed meat to animals I never seen before and alomst any fruit/vegetable. Oddly, even though no one in my family is allergic to nuts. There is a wide variety I can not eat otherwise my throat will close up on itself and can choke. Even the hottest Mexican food tastes good to me :)
To this date there is not a single piece of sea food I did not finish that I was served. Squid became the closest, not because it tasted bad. It just had little/no flavor and was like chewing on rubber. When I was a young teen and went out hunting with my grandfather in the Bering Sea I shot a walrus. We parked on a floating iceberg, pulled it up top, skinned and gutted it, then he made me do something I was not expecting. He had me clean it's intestines by ringing them out. Needless to say that was a disgusting job that I did not like doing, but I did it non-the-less. As I was squeezing the intestines, clams and other seafoods were shooting out of the ends that were cut. I did not pay too much attention to them and continued on with the squeezing. Well after 20 minutes I finally finished and stored the intestines as my grandpa told me to (I never knew how long intestines can be). Then he told me to get a bucket of seawater and wash those clams off. In my mind I shouted to myself WTF!!! NO THATS GROSS!!!. But did it anyways. I cleaned them all, well as many that would fit in that small 3 gallon bucket anyways.
Out comes the coleman stove, and the females that were out hunting with us (Eskimo culture, women do the cooking, men do the work) and they start cutting up a bunch of vegetables we brought along, melted some fresh snow that was on that iceberg we were on, added in some various spices, threw in the vegetables, started cutting the clams and threw them in and viola. Fresh clam chowder. I was the last one to get served (I was not complaining) because as another eskimo culture, eating order goes from oldest to youngest. I was looking at it for a long time thinking this is the grossest thing I have ever seen. Finally my second cousin who did the cooking said aren't you going to eat? You have been standing there just looking at it. Not wanting to offend her I scooped up a big spoon full, forced it in my mouth. To my surprise... it was EXCELLENT! :)

I bet on that TV show... what was it called... There are 3 rounds, 2 rounds of doing stunts and one a eating contest. I have no doubt in my mind I can eat anything they throw at me :p lol. The bugs are a little disgusting (actually very) but those are man raised and not gotten from nature with a very strict diet. I am certain they taste like whatever kinda fruit/vegetables they feed them.

I nominate this block of text for post of the day, due purely to content.

I remember when I was young we would wait at the kitchen for the scratching since mom was frying the chopped up pork to get lard. It's still hot but man it tastes good. We also throw it in a soup when we have it.
