Dude, i beat the HELL out of my bikes, and the only time anything has ever broken off was from a crash. You're full of sh|t.

the owner of the shop i work at has both snapped factory rear pegs doing stand up wheelies on them, and bent pro-tec rear sets doing stopies on them... and wtf is an 11 o'clock? round here people do 12's

almost tappin dat' arse

scraping

throwing sprarks

those are all photos on a temp server i took in one afternoon of stunting... feel free to look thru them all. also check out more stunting pix on FBI's website and a whole stunting forum - stuntsta.com

so plz dont lecture to me about what can and can't break... i actually WORK at a bike shop... not just talk about it online... and my shop also sponsors ever top stunter in the country as mentioned in an earlier post

Not quite comfortable enough on my 3 month old baby to get that crazy yet; getting to the balance point is all I care for. She handles alot differently than anything I've had alot of butt-time on (ie., 996), and the 250 just plain wouldn't wheelie at all. lol.

lol... get the new dvd - black sheep squadron - for 2 reasons

one... in the very beg of the dvd as it starts, the whole crew of every major stunter is walking towards the camera, chauncy is wearinga MOM Customs shirt plain as day (the shop i work for)

second - they show one of the riders doing wheelies on a ninja 250 and circle wheelies on a vespa, effin hillarious!

Yea, that bike just isn't made for stunting at all, unless you want to drop the clutch for even small wheelies. I remember the days of dropping the clutch at 15mph to get it up. Gotta love dropping it at 60 in 2nd for standups, even on a 600. :)

The aftermarket pegs I have coming are Protekk. Just the pegs, not the entire rearset. So, after your bosses experience, I hope these don't bend. I only weigh 130lbs and the right-side stocker snapped right off.

vortex makes decent stuff... but you may just wanna look into some cheaper rearsets like CFM... they are built as a whole just better then stock and dont cost an arm and a leg

two things:

1. http://www.beginnerbikes.com/editorials/formequalsfunction.htm

basically an article where it argues sportsbikes are not beginner bikes.. and i agree with it.. cause the riding position can be initmidating to some too.

2. I ride a 2001 GS500.. and I love it. I am not about wheelies.. i dont need to do them.. but give me a canyon and i probably will run circles around you.

3. I dont think an SV650 is a good beginner bike. Its a bit too much for a beginner. It wheelies too easily and it revs too fast.. i have known ppl with SV650's crash it on the first few days of ownership.. so technically its not a beginner bike.

some good links and info / insight

addressing your comments:

1) good link / read for n00bs

2) you wont run circles around me on a gs500 in the canyon's... im not a n00bie rider and quite honestly, the gs-500 frame isnt excactly the moust stout and doesnt put up to "agressive" riding like say the sv does... and by agressive i dont mean wheelies, i mean draggin knee. im not knocking your bike... they are GREAT beginner bikes and for people who dont want a crotch rocket cuz its not comfy for longer rides... as long as you ride and are happy, thats all that matters

3) the sv650 imho does make a good beginner street bike for someone (like mentioned above) who comes from a background of dirt bikes... its not like this would be there first time on 2 wheels... as for crashing... ive seen people drop a bike at a stop sign cuz they didnt look down to see a pot hole where they went to put their foot, lol

True you could make that argument that you would run circles around me.. I have been riding my GS500 for 3 years and I have been riding motorcycles for about 6 or so years (excluding the break in between). I have been riding bicycles agressively all together about 18 years. I do have good control.. these days I dont push it because 1. i dont want to crash (its going to be an expensive fix) 2. I have a gf that i really care about.

Even so you cant see a 500 is not made for racing on the canyons. I guess you havent met the local. So.Cal GStwin crew. Pablo will run circles around high end bikes. THe only thing the GS is limited is its top speed but in the canyons it works fine. You can get your knee down on a GS, I have gotten my heel down, but on teh canyons we arent running that fast that we need to (plus its not safe) guys who race have gotten their knee down on the track.. You can say the frame isnt made for it.. your wrong, its the freaking suspension. However you fix that and its a rocking machine.

As for the SV650, trust me on this. I have seen my fair share of ppl dropping bikes, getting killed etc etc. The SV is not an beginner bike. If someone comes from dirt bikes maybe it can be acceptable, but a newbie rider it is not. I should know, because i have known ppl in LA who bought an SV and crashed it. The SV is just not an beginner bike. I used to recommend it as one, but then ppl started saying it wheelies too fast. Dont get me wrong the SV is a great bike, great engine but its just not a beginner bike..

A beginner needs to learn the basics, and he cant learn them if he sits on a bike that is a bit too much for his skill set. That is why you start small where if you make a mistake it forgives you.

I have seen too many death's in my time. Mostly acquiantances, but a few friends who nearly died. The point is that if you are riding beyond your limit your going to crash.. to prevent that you ride a small bike.

By the way Mungla.. i havent seen you in a while.. good seeing ya bro.
