Made the tape line too low? So what exactly happened? It sort of sounds like they painted silver on top of the CF piece? Or does the clear coat have a tape line in it (so no color on top of CF)
I've heard of people having issues with getting CF refinished.. But this is generally more with trying to get yellowed CF back to black and sanding into the CF, or the clear coat ending up cloudy.
....This is one of those situations where you really should let them try to fix their screw-up. If it doesn't look good after that then you have some room to scream.
The whole piece is carbon fiber. The painter needed to mask off just the parts that surround the exhaust.
When they did the silver part is now about 1/8-1/4" too low on the right side.
If it was just a line from the tape itself, I'd wetsand it on my own. Being they clear coated the whole piece after it was painted, to remove the silver body color I'd screw up the clearcoat getting it off.
The main problem I have is time.
They have already offered to replace it.
Even BMW makes mistakes, most probably wouldn't notice.

I think I see a solution...They have already offered to replace it.
I've had a carbon fiber bicycle fork stripped and repainted with no trouble and my life depends on that working so I can't imagine it would be any different with a non-critical car part.

The problem is there will be exposed carbon fiber. If it was a total repaint, it would be a no-brainer.
I would say your best bet would be a replacement part. I don't imagine it would take more than a couple hours of your time to have them re&re a new bumper cover. You could probably even wait for it while they do it when you have the time.

Wait for the paint to dry?
The biggest concern is ordering another part and the fit being off. This is a common problem with a lot of parts like this.
So then I have to repack, bring it back, reorder, etc.
I will probably end up just replacing it as no one has been able to answer the main question.

Is this not an aftermarket part of which you would have the stock unit?....or is it stock...if it's stock then waiting wouldn't work.
