I'm planning on getting one, but would like to know whats the minimum accurate range first. How far can a bb gun hit a "head" sized target?

He tries to be a T from CS with a BB gun and he's gonna get a .45 in the head from a SWAT team member.

Daisy is a brand BB gun.
How old are you alpha? I had my own pellet gun by the time I was like 8.

I saw a piece on one of the primetime news magazines that showed a BB rifle attaining muzzle speeds higher than a .38 Special snubnose police revolver after being overpumped (it was in the context of a teen who was turned into a vegetable after being shot in the head by a stray BB rattling around in the rifle after the shooter thought it was empty).

I imagine they can achieve reasonable accuracy for quite some distance (I have fired many real guns but never an air-powered one, so have no firsthand experience on this).

i want a slow velocity, somewhere less than 300fps. those daisy guns looks pretty chessy and ugly, they got the camo painted on :) lol :)

So you just want to knock the can over and not actually put a hole in it then?

My mate had a air pistol. It shot over 400 fps. Fast enough to seriously hurt people. Shattered beer bottles from over 10 metres :)

I used to have an air rifle, yes these things can kill if you're careless. I used it to shoot rats in some of the abandoned barns close to my home. *sigh* youth, where has it gone? In a blink of an **eye**.

I've got a Daisy BB gun/pellet gun that is pump/CO2 and that thing is powerful. When you've got the thing overpumped that thing can seriously do some damage. Having the CO2 cartidge is nice cause you don't have to pump, but they only last maybe 20 shots and are rather expensive.

BTW, don't shoot a golf ball from point blank range. The BB will come back and it hurts like hell.

i just started getting into the air gun thing. All i have now is a cheap spring-piston pistol and a cheap Daisy 880. cost 40 dollars at walmart.
it's pretty damn accurate. from about 25-30 feet away, i can hit a quarter size target with relative ease. I just bought a cheap scope and mounted it on there, so my groupings are improving.
I found pellets to be more accurate than bbs, but you have to load pellets in the daisy guns one at a time. BBs you can load a crapload, like 50. pellets are cheap too, just bought a tin of 500 for $3.50
safety should be a big concern. wear eye protection, and always be sure of your backstop, eg , don't shoot into a cardboard box that's on a cheapbookcase with a thin backing like i did. You will end up with a hole in the wall like me :)

you should look at some airgun sites that are out there. alot of these folks are real hardcore so you probably won't have a clue as to what they're discussin at first.
A airgun bbs based in the UK
some general airgun info

hope this helps.
