spring piston air rifles .177, barrel break, single shot pellets are better choice than BBs, much more accurate. Pellets are a little more expensive ...

I have a cheapo Daisy, model 131, cost $30. at walMart a couple of yrs ago.

Shoot squirrels in my fruit trees. Head shots to 50 ft, no problem.

If you want a "real" non powerfired rifle, you want one that fires pellets, not BB's. Look into a good RWS rifle. The .177 caliber rifles can hit a muzzle velocity of over 1100 FPS. For maximum punch, check out the .22 and .25 caliber rifles. They can hit velocities of close to 900 FPS. My Dad and I used to use the .22 caliber RWS rifles for squirrel hunting and target practicing.

Very nice guns. You can get them for around $170 or so.

I'll share something stupid I did with a pump bb gun many many years ago.


I was in my teens, or early twenties. Had a 10-pump bb gun, at 10 pumps the bbs were unbelieveably nasty. We had an above ground swimming pool to the one side of our house, and this bird house on a high metal pole to the other side. I used to love to pump the gun a few times, and shoot the pole from our garage (prob about 75 feet). It would make this neat Kathwang! noise. One time I decided to pump it 15 times and shoot the pole to hear how loud it would be... I hit the pole, got a gratuitious KATHWANG! click... Turned to the left to see where the click came from and saw that the BB had ricocheted and punched a hole in the pool, about a foot up from the bottom. It looked like it was peeing. Well, needless to say, it was a bit hard to explain...

Moral of the story is that though it is a BB gun, it is still a gun. Be careful!

I have owned many BB guns in my life. I currently own a Sheridan match-grade pneumatic air-rifle that I got a few years ago. It's .20 caliber and uses pellets only. I only found one place in my area that sells the pellets for it. It's deadly accurate. I've taken down a rat at 30 yards with it. With the scope on it, I can do some nice groupings with it. It's maximum velocity rivals a .22 according to the manufacturer.

A good Crossman Model 760 would suit your needs. They are like $30 bucks now at Walmart, K-Mart, Dick's, etc. Add a scope and you'll do just fine.

I have an RWS Diana junior match rifle... deadly accurate with a peepsight.

I also own a Beeman Webley Tempest pistol, which is pretty inaccurate, but good for plinking.

Both .177 and single pump.

I want a repeater, i'd hate to put a BB/pellet in for each shot I'll look into the Crosman's. Their website sucks btw, takes forever to navigate to the rifle you want to look at


Is the 760, the I760?

Also, do i have to buy those ugly penicl scopes that they sell or could i buy a scope that also fits on real rifles?
