Shame. Your missing out on some good stuff by not doing it.

apparently DDing is a very popular hobby amongst bargain hunters. I just can't bring myself to do it.

having lived close to the poverty line at one point in my life, I too have done the dumpster diving thing.

anyways, be careful and good luck.

funboy, no one was making fun of your son for braces. Times have changed and having braces is the cool thing in middle school actually.

Glad you made a haul!

The low carb store in our complex went belly up a few weeks back and I found a BUNCH of low carb "candy bars" in the dumpster.

After trying a few, I can see WHY they were there! YUCK

Your score was MUCH better!

The funniest part about this thread is how excited the OP is over "free" packing peanuts.

when they charge you an arm/leg/second child for them, well, free is free.

Sorry, I get massive amounts for free. Get this, the deliver them straight to my office too! For some reason, they always come with other junk though like video cards, LCD's, shoes, electronics, etc.

I've gone, but as a rule, I don't touch the food. There's a mini shopping plaza place where there's clothing stores, video rental, KFC and stuff. I've picked up old console systems(like SNESs, NESs, Sega master systems, older computers(like p2-p3 class) fully loaded. Hard drive wasn't formatted and full of personal info and passwords behind flimsy asterisks. I've also seen gonzo amounts of food being chucked out because there's a shop rite there. Just could never bring myself to go there. Knowing the asset disposal people at companies and universities is also a gold mine of older laptops, old servers, monitors out the yin yang(smaller older lcds and some gorgeous CRTs), and just general computer junk.

I imagine you could probably make a killing on ebay now that I think about it.

the only dumpster diving i have done is in the magazine recycling bin. instead of a vein of gold, you find a vein of porn. i remember driving to grandmas on easter years ago with my sister and brother in law and scoring a box full of porn

Ha ha, just Monday morning I had thrown some old Maxim magazines in the recycle bin and put it out at the curb. When I was going out to get the morning paper 2 kids who were walking to the bus stop had stopped and were stuffing their back packs.

WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM! You want to attack me fine go for it. You attack my son becuase he needs braces I will find where you live and shove my size 15 so far up your a$$ you will have to go to the hospital to have it removed.
SHUT THE FU@K UP about my childreen c0ck sucker!

wow someone needs to lighten up.😉

i have to agree with you there

Sorry I didnt have to go to that extreme but I dont need to be told my son needs braces I see him every day. I am disabled, no money, and yes it hurts me that he needs them and I cannot afford to get them done. I didnt need some a$$hat telling me the obvious and making it out for all to jump in and agree. You can make fun of me all you want. I take it personal when you say crap about my family.

I needed braces when I was a kid. read:"needed"

You took your kids digging through garbage and are feeding them food you found? 😕

They're SEALED, dude. I'm glad they didn't just get wasted like so much stuff does.

you know things get thrown out cause they are...trash. you might not find a expiration date on it, but you will usually find some kind of code on the boxes like C4Q142P3. well these codes are put on there for a reason, they in fact are the expiration dates. see only a vender knows what these codes stand for, and when they come through they pull them off the shelves and they are disposed of and the store is credited money for what did not sell. i know this because i used to use these codes to pull expired things off the shelves for companies.

Uh..... LOL.

Sure, I've been dumpster diving........ for electronics & anything else mechanical....

I don't think I could bring myself to eat anything that I found in the garbage, even if it looked fine.....

I mean.. we may be poor by most peoples standards, but we're not THAT hard up.......

lol
