go for bachelors.

but i'm here to warn you that graphic design is very competitive. it's hard to find job related to graphic design because there are several graphic designers. so, consider yourself one of the competitives for the graphic design job in the future.

i was supposed to major in graphic design but opted to major in industrial design instead.

oh and fyi, most graphic designing companies don't use photoshop.

heh. I was actually on the software forum and they told me the corp's use photoshop. If they dont pshop what do they use? I know they use other software for 3d models/architecture, but what are the other alternatives to pshop?

the graphic design program at my private university uses illustrator instead photoshop.

edit: there are several art softwares.

StudioMaxx
Maya
Illustrator
Autocad

Photoshop isn't that vector friendly as you have to make a few extra clicks.

that's actually the hardest part.

start with sketches (hand drawing) then do the final sketches on the computer. if you are talent at drawing then you are superb!

i'm lucky i took art classes when i was young before i chose to major in industrial design.

well i wouldnt consider illustrator a replacement for photoshop... if u know ur softwares, illustrator is vector art and photoshop is for raster images...

im curious what the job market is like for a 3d artist/modeler/animator...

Know these software:

Illustrator
Photoshop
InDesign
Quark
Flash
Dreamweaver

And design theory. As with everyone on anandtech, everyone thinks they are a designer because they have photoshop. And no, photoshop is not meant for logos!
