The weather is quite a bit different than what you'll find on the west side of the state. It's much more extreme, and there's not nearly as much rain and the temperature isn't as moderate. Pasco freezes every winter and most of the time they'll get snow. The summers are usually hot and dry.
There is a large Latino population in Pasco, some of which is due to the large amount of migrant work available in the surrounding area.
Culturally, Eastern Washington is much more conservative than Western.
Oh, and I'm not from Pasco, but some college buddies were, and I've spent a lot of time there playing soccer and drinking beer and whatnot. =)
I'm moving there [Tri-Cities; Kennewick proper] Monday from Walla Walla.
Housing is cheap in Pasco. New homes range from $105k. Low median income for Pasco. Like $22k. 56% Hispanic, 52% caucasian back in 2000. Richland is a little more affluent, because most residents work at Hanford. Kennewick is right in the middle. There are Wikis about all three of them.
I don't have any input on schools. No kids.

Pasco is dry, brown, hot, cold, dry, brown, and brown.
The weather is extreme like someone pointed out. I go to school in Eastern Washington and the area is much more conservative than the Seattle area (no kidding). Housing should be fairly cheap due plenty of land on this side of the state. Pasco usually has a good high school football team, but I doubt you care about that.

heh...Pasco IS the closest "major city"...Otherwise, it's about 150 miles to Spokane, or ~300 to Seattle, ~250 to Portland Oregon. I lived just outside Pasco for a couple of years...about 25 yrs ago. It's been pretty accurately described above...brown and hot in the summer, brown and cold in the winter, often with a dusting of snow. CAN get pretty cold...(-20 is common) Good hunting and fishing in the immediate area. Otherwise, it's not exactly a hotbed of cultural activity...

I live in Wenatchee. Weather is cold in the winter (sometimes gets below 0), and hot in the summer (usually in the 90's and 100's). It's the ideal 4-season area and the fall is beautiful and so is the spring during apple blossom.
Oh, and the population of pasco is maybe 35,000, but really you have to measure the whole tri-cities population since they are crammed together and basically make one big city of about 125,000+ people. That's not too bad.

You know, I don't. I live with my parents and before fiber was available in my area of the town, my parents wanted broadband internet so they signed a deal with charter cable. Charter has been pretty good (way better than comcast), but someday I'd like to get fiber. Thank you for not asking a question about apples.

I live in Seattle, but I have been to the Tri-Cities. In fact, I spent a year there one night.

Summer there does like Sacramento, hot as hell, from about june 15th on. Not as much humidity. I would give my left nut to get out of Cali, just to be back in Kennewick. I simply cannot afford to move, or I'd be back there, in a heartbeat.
