I had mine done 2 years ago after the second child (I was 30) . It will take you week or so to get back up to speed. I had mine on a Friday and was back at work on a Monday but, I am a programmer. They give you a local, but no need to worry, you won't salute the Dr while it's going on.
I can't tell you how It is wonderful to not have to bother with any contraceptive devices anymore, or worry about getting pregnant. You would be amazed what kind of tension that creates especially at the moment of "impact". At least in my case that thought would flash in my brain for a second. the wife also became more interested in doing it.
Here is the thing... This is the fun part. After the procedure you won't get a green light from the DR. that you are clear of swimmers for a few weeks. If you fail that test you have to wait another few weeks and get tested again. In the mean time the DR will
highly recommend that you "Flush" out the pipes as often and in "Any" way you can...
VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the wife is with you when you get this info !!!
I had the wife "assist" with the "Flushing of the pipes" in one way or another
Everynight until I got the all clear...(it took eight weeks in my case.)

. It became a ritual and if she gave me any flack I would remind here that it was her Idea and a small price to pay to not go through that process of having her tubes tide.
