dude you're only 23...think about this... AFAIK these things are not reversible... get her to go on the pill or something... IMHO 23 is too young to make this kind of decision, no matter how much in love you are.

sean2002,

I had mine done 2 years ago after the second child (I was 30) . It will take you week or so to get back up to speed. I had mine on a Friday and was back at work on a Monday but, I am a programmer. They give you a local, but no need to worry, you won't salute the Dr while it's going on.

I can't tell you how It is wonderful to not have to bother with any contraceptive devices anymore, or worry about getting pregnant. You would be amazed what kind of tension that creates especially at the moment of "impact". At least in my case that thought would flash in my brain for a second. the wife also became more interested in doing it. :D

Here is the thing... This is the fun part. After the procedure you won't get a green light from the DR. that you are clear of swimmers for a few weeks. If you fail that test you have to wait another few weeks and get tested again. In the mean time the DR will highly recommend that you "Flush" out the pipes as often and in "Any" way you can... VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the wife is with you when you get this info !!!

I had the wife "assist" with the "Flushing of the pipes" in one way or another Everynight until I got the all clear...(it took eight weeks in my case.) :D. It became a ritual and if she gave me any flack I would remind here that it was her Idea and a small price to pay to not go through that process of having her tubes tide.

Unless they actually take your testicles off it's reversible. It might not be easy (or cheap and it might take 3 or 4 tries), but they can reconnect the tubes. Hell they can reconnect on their own, it has happened.

My experience is like the others. I'll give you my story.

Got it done on a Friday afternoon last December. Three other guys in the waiting room, wives in tow, jockstraps in hand all waiting for the big snip.

I didn't have to trim and shave, they would do that. Of course visions of a beautiful blonde entered my mind. Unfortunately, reality was a male nurse named Troy. He was a pro, we bantered about work and hobbies as he shaved my jewels down. Combined with the ice cold Betadine, wood wasn't a problem.

First shots stung, right side went great. They took a lot of the vas out, and double clamped each end. Left side was ok, except the numbing wasn't totally in effect and I about went through the roof when they were digging around. I wasn't in stirrups.

Spent about the next 24 hours with a bag of peas rotated with a bag of corn. Back to work on Monday, had to wear the jock strap for most of the week.

Eight weeks go by, drop off the sample at the lab. Got some friendly harrassment from the lab folk when I gave them the product. Day or too later got the news that none of my boys were swimming.

All in all, not bad. Just ask a lot of questions so you feel better, they've heard them all I'm sure.

God.

i got to stop reading this thread. I know all the benefits of (well except the one where you have to be milked everyday) this procedure, but OMFG. I'm not liking the sound of this.

I'd rather they just put me to sleep.

you're 23, why dont you think it over.

condoms and birth control are very effective if used properly. you dont want to lose your child bearing tool this early, you never know what might happen.

It's been a year since I've had mine...I keep sending fake medical letters that say I have to "keep clearing the pipes", but I think the wife is getting suspicious :D
