my dad built one. i dont have the exact specs, but he custom built his. heh, he even molded the handle bars from an old gate my grandma threw out. he even paced a friend of his driving a car, and he got up to about 45-50 mph. i jumped on it for the first time last week, that thing was squirrley as hell! i overestimated the steering and almost biffed it seconds after hopping on. i then got the hang of it and was zipping around. next time im down there, ill try and take some pics. he came up on another frame, even took measurements where i want the handle bars to be at and such, so, i should have mines in a couple of months. 😀

I almost hit a kid on one of those the other day. Was going 50 on a backroad and came up over the hill and he was in the middle of the road going about 20 mph :|

I saw one being riden here in Boston a couple days ago,the dude riding it looked funny🙂

i work at a custom motorcycle shop.... back around november and december we got those in and some of the chopper looking ones... they were kool and we sold a ton because people were buying them for their kids.

we kept a few around thru the end of winter and when spring came all the hood rats bought them... well wasnt long before they tried to ride them in the streets and sidewalks in the city and the cops were taking them left and right

the other thing is they are JUST A TOY

if you fall and break something on it, its a weedwacker motor, so don't expect to do a motor rebuild

and they are imported into the us from china 95% pre-assembled, and parts are not available, so if you crash and break something, you just wasted a few hundred bux

the alternative is to get a real pocket bike, like a blatta, but they start at $2000 - but can be modded to go over 70!

id suggest just buying a honda xr 50 (now called the crf50) and putting a handlebar kit and exhaust on em

The landspeed resord for a pocket bike is 63 mph. Replacement parts for the chinese bikes are readily available at many websites like www.pocketbikeparts.com as well as many engine services and new bikes. The blatas and polinis are nice but few people wanting to try one out are willng to shell out between 1300 and 4500 for a thing to play with.

Oh yeh, the stock chinese pocketbike usually revs to around 10,000 rpm.

Maybe check out http://www.pocketbikeplanet.com or http://www.pocketbikex.com/ for actual info.
