Anyone have the EnV 2 from Verizon yet?

I have a smartphone, but its a bit too much for me not to mention its like a brick in my pocket. I like the original EnV but I would assume the newer model is a little better. I messed around with one, but just curious if anyone out there has one that they've been using for a while now that can give a review.

Thanks

I got mine the day it was released. My previous phone was a Motorola v276 which was pretty old and a generally crappy phone.

I don't use it for much other than calls and the occasional text message but I really like the env2 so far. It's smaller than the enV and imo looks better, I couldn't stand to have the enV in my pocket. Call quality and reception are much better than the v276 and better than my gf's vx8300. I also love the speaker phone on it and use it quite a bit for conference calls. The external screen only has a few basic options (text one person, contacts, recent calls, music) but is good enough for 90% of the stuff I want to do with the phone which is answer and make calls. I do wish the picture ids would show up a bit larger on it though. The internal screen is nice and clear and I love having a qwerty kb since it too me forever to text on my old phone. Web browsing is decent enough in a pinch but obviously WAP is crap.

There are a few issues with it. Some people have had problems with it unlocking and calling people in there pocket (it's only happened once to me). BitPim doesn't work with it yet but I've heard the developer are working on it. My biggest complaint is the notepad feature keeps deleting my notes for some reason, hopefully this will be fixed with a firmware update.

You can find more information here:

Overall I'd recommend it as a smart phone light. I couldn't justify buying a fancy phone (i'd never use half the features) but the generic clamshell phones didn't interest me either.

Thanks, looks like there are a few issues...as there are with any new phone, so I'll probably wait for them to fix a few bugs. Good info on that website too btw.

I got an env2 a week ago. I came from the original pearl 8100, which had a lot of cool features, but none of the cool features like the GPS or wifi. I got the env2 free from work, so the price is right. It's a little thicker and heavier than the pearl, but not so much as to annoy me. I'm still getting used to the texting style, but it's not bad. I liked how I could do all the pearl navigation with one hand, and that's not so possible with the env2. Despite the fact that I think it's a step back from the Pearl, it's a good phone and I'll be happy to use it for a year or two.

Haven't got it yet. There is a new phone I saw at Verizon yesterday that has WM 6.1 on it and is about half the size of my PocketPC with virtually all the same features/functions so I might pony up the extra money and get that.

Otherwise, I will probably end up with an EnV2 but will wait a couple months to see if they fix some of the issues with it.

I discovered another annoying feature today. Apparently the received and dialed calls list only shows one entry for each contact so if my Gf calls at 10:00 and 12:00 it only shows 12:00.

Yeah I have the Envy1 and it does the same thing. Kind of irritating but I've gotten used to it.

Wow that's really lame. That can be important at times.

I bought the enV2 yesterday, haven had it a full day, but so far im impressed. The hardest thing at this point is getting used to the querty keyboard. The buttons are so small. But the phone itself is sexy, and after half a day, im loving it. Well see what the future holds.

You'll find that on all Verizon phones. They're all running on the same operating system - the phone GUIs are just skinned differently on some.

Those of you who think the buttons are too small, try owning an Alias, as they're called (Samsung u740).

I have had one for over a year, I love the dual flip and the thinness of the phone.

But, like I said, the buttons on that are much harder to get used to than the enV2.

I'd love to have one though, I really like the styling of the new enV.

Anyone up for a trade? Heheh

There should be a log in the menu somewhere that shows a full call list.
