Damn, they're quick. But I wonder which is more effective, a blocking defense or just back peddling and dodging defense.

In a nonpoints enviroment the Shaolin dont just block, they grab and use momentum against their opponent. Watching in slow motion you can see that in at least two of the blocks he touched both top and bottom of the leg. It would be simple to flip him or topple him at that point, I dont know about in WTF but in most competitions here we cannot use the extent of Kung Fu the way the rules are set up unfortunately.

It is good to use a mixture of styles and not set yourself in stone but in the end most of the great ones are pro Kung Fu. *cough Bruce*

That monk was impressive. When he did go on the offensive, it looked like he scored a couple of times.

He's right though... For the first year or so though, I think TKD students tend to be better than most of the other martial arts... but, in the long run, most of the other martial arts are superior (once you reach black belt)

I just saw this video... how do we know it's a draw? If you look at the TKD guy, he was clearly losing his stamina. I think that was the gameplan of the monk. I would really really like to see the full video if it's out there.

And this is very very impressive stuff. They're not wearing ANY protection at all, so a single good hit was all it would take to take either one down. Lets say even if the fight was only 2 mins long... the video itself is 2 mins long, and 3/4 of it was repeats or slowdowns. I highly doubt the fight lasted for 30 secs than a draw was called.

no, i agree.

i've seen this black belt tkd guy fight this guy with no martial arts training/fighting training whatsoever... and he got owned. if they can't land their first kick, and the attacker comes close enough, the tkd guy is dead.
