I want to see a video of one of those type guys versus a hardcore street fighter. Anyone?

Ever heard of Hoyce Gracie?

The Gracies were probably the most influential in bringing grappling to MMA and at one time were at the top. However, nowadays since everyone practices some form of grappling - they just don't rule anymore.

All I can say is wow to both of those vids. That is why I get annoyed seeing a lot of martial arts movies, all the special effects they put into martial arts when people can do this stuff

i'd have to disagree. those videos look awesome, but it's just choreographed stuff...nothing like the video the op posted.

looking at the video the first spin heel kick the tae kwon do dude does is so high that even if the other guy didnt duck it still would have missed. This shows how tae kwon do is more of a show sport rather than being a efficient fighting tool.

the spin heel kick is one of the most useless moves in that sport, takes way to long and allows a opponent to easily adjust and counter

I think you misunderstood, I meant that choreographed or not I enjoyed them and find it frustrating that some martial art movies must do wire-fu to impress people.

Spin kicks can be a bit of show boating but it can also be a very powerful kick used as a follow up....

I don't think this vid shows that at all. It shows one person trained in TKD that looks like he is doing a lot of show boating, however, he doesn't represent the entire TKD population. Just like one of the other vids show a TKD beating the hell out of a Karate person, I'm sure that doesn't represent the entire Karate population......

I've seen and been in some open martial arts tourneys, I've beat some karate guys being a TKD person and I've gotten beat. It depends on the person behind the technique.

But if you look at most mixed martial arts competitions the kick is rarely used simply for the reasons stated above.

man I'm too tired to argue and don't really care lol. I've always thought of a few of the martial arts like TKD and Karate as great foundation forms. Teaches discipline and some good basics.

Reck, I don't agree with that statement but to each his own. Do I think TKD is perfect, hell no but not bad either.

Honestly, if there was a school around here I'd try out Jeet Koon Do. I had a friend that took that and loved it.
