Anyone have a problem keeping cars?

I can't seem to keep any car for any significant amount of time. After about a year, I get the new car itch and end up trying something new out. Over the past 10 years, I've had 9 cars:

'86 Toyota Corolla
'89 Nissan Maxima
'98 Nisan 200SX
'04 Scion xB
'05 Honda Civic Si
'99 Honda Civic EX
'05 Saab 9-2x Aero (Subaru WRX Clone)
'07 Toyota Prius
'12 Chevy Volt

I decided to lease the Volt due to their incredibly low lease deals...so I'm stuck with this one for three years regardless of how much I want a new one...but I just can't stop thinking about what I want to drive next.

I've probably averaged around two years per vehicle. I'm trying to get better. I've had my current one for just over three years and 83k miles. Definitely looking for something new now.

I like buying new cars...but now that I'm taking the train to work each day and my wife works from home... It just isn't on my mind much. We will likely share the current car until I get a serious itch or we move somewhere we both need to drive. I REALLY miss my M3. I was literally walking in a neighborhood the other day and heard a car coming in the distance. Instantly knew it was E46 M3 <3

I'm the exact same way.

'03 Pontiac Vibe GT
'03.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
'04 GTO
'08 CTS
'10 Corvette
'11 CTS-V

The only thing that I want now is a GTR or Prosche 911 and at this point $70k was enough to spend on a car so I don't see $110k likely for a long time. The only other thing that I would consider is a C7 Corvette if it turns out to be a improvement.

If I had the dough, I'd probably be in the same place. Ah, I want to get me M license next year so I can ride next summer. Want to get a 300cc scooter. I know that makes me a fruit in the eyes of ATG, but I think they're cool.

I've had two cars in my entire driving life of 10 years. Driven a LOT of different vehicles but only owned the pair.

1989 Mazda 626 LX auto, dark blue. Had it for two years before the body rusted away. Was a gift from my gran when she decided to give up her license. She didn't take good care of it. Care was free but I ended up sinking at least $1500 into it for all the repairs it needed.

2005 Honda Civic LX-G auto, also dark blue. My current whip. Bought it new. Parents helped me buy it after the Mazda was declared unsafe to drive.

3 years has been my magic number. I don't even really think about it either it just happens. Even at 3 years I don't feel I've gotten my moneys worth so I'm hoping for 5-6 on the current vehicles.

dealing used cars means no drive off the lot depreciation, so really not a money loser if you like to 'play'
If I wasn't so buys w everything else that would be fun

Not me. I have the opposite problem. Either I keep my current vehicle(s) or I don't have anything to drive.

Past vehicles:
1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra LS (first car)
1992 Chevrolet Cavalier RS Wagon (3.1L v6...that was fun)
1996 Mercury Grand Marquis GS (totalled in wreck. :( )
1985 Chevrolet S10 2WD 2.8Lv6 (still used by my parents for yard/field work)

Current:
1997 Cavalier coupe (current daily driver)
1987 Caprice Classic (I learned to drive on this vehicle...but currently undergoing shadetree restoration)

I've had 1 car over the past 9 years. Well, 1 car and 3 bikes. Cars are kind of lame in comparison.

In all fairness to the car I did have 2 other cars while I passed the 9 year old car to my wife and back to me.

During my youth, in the '70's, I ran through vehicles like people change their socks. I averaged 2-3 cars a year...have owned now over 65 vehicles so far.

Now, not so much. Last new vehicle we had, I kept for 10 years, but I also ran through about 6 "beaters" or toys during that time, so guess it depends.

Lol. My mom had a 1984 Caprice Classic coupe. Grey with red interior. That thing was a monster. Typical 80s family car. Huge, chunky, with an obscenely large V8 engine that had wimpy power output.

Thats the long and short of it. At least they are durable and easy to work on. Sometimes a car like that is great when you want to eat up mile markers on the interstate. I'll probably continue to drive that thing until I croak or the wheels fall off (twice). :p

I've owned a total of 2 cars over the past 15 years, or since I started driving when I started college. 1 used, totaled while it was parked. 1 new, still driving it, and will drive it until it dies.

Thought about getting a second car that's faster. But if I wanted fast, I might as well get a sports bike.

I use to be like that but with beaters. I'd buy a $500-1000 car and drive it a year or so and sell it for what I paid and buy another one. I've gotten more picky over the years though and it takes me forever to find the right car and I hate looking so I've stopped. I have had a miata now for close to 6 years and a couple months ago I sold my beater 89 dodge caravan that I had for 12 years and replaced it with an 03 pontiac vibe.

'98 Corolla (2003-2006)
'86 MR2 (2005-2008)
'98 Tacoma (2005-2008, rust :()
'91 MR2 Turbo (2008---)
'05 Tundra (2008-2010)
'04 Forester XT (2010-2012)
'04 CTS-V (2011---)
'99 Tacoma (2012---)
'91 MR2 V6 (2012---)

I wanted a Mk2 MR2 when I bought the Mk1, so it was more of a stepping stone than an "I'm tired of it" move. I've pretty much always wanted a Tacoma - the only reason I didn't replace mine when I lost it to frame rust was because they were so damn expensive. I have another one now and don't see myself selling it anytime soon.

The rest flex around a bit...but it's a pretty safe bet there will be an MR2 and a Tacoma around for a long time. I keep going back and forth with the CTS-V and with the V6 MR2..sell/keep, sell/keep. If the V doesn't get sold to go towards a house, it'll probably go when the 09's are in my price range.

I get what I want the first time, so I don't have buyers remorse later on that leads to wanting a new car.

I would replace it more often, if not for inane insurance fees here in NJ (even with a good record) .. have a 1999 Grand Prix .. not replaced yet (maybe in another 3 or so years since I don't put a lot of miles per year, about 12-14K on it)

Since I finished undergrad, I've been following the same pattern:
Mercedes CLK (06-07)
Audi A6 (08-10)
Audi S4 (10-11)
BMW M3 (11-12)
911 4s (12-?)

About the same thing for bikes, since 03 I've owned CBR f3, CBR f4, GSXR600 and an R6 Raven.

Eh - I wouldn't call it buyers remorse. I just get bored, and want to try something different.
