My question is...if I dont get the data package that costs like 80 bucks a month will i get anything out of the phone? Is there some cheaper package for verizon?

They have combination voice/data plans:

450 minutes/unlimited data - $80
1350 minutes/unlimited data - $110
4000 minutes/unlimited data - $170

I'm probably going to get the 1350 minutes plan...when you add in insurance and a text messaging bundle it's like $125 :(

Home key plus Spacebar = Keyboard lock.

I have the lowest available plan (300 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends) because I don't use it much for calling anyone during the day, except for my girlfriend who is also on Sprint ($5 a month free PCS-to-PCS). So my bill ends up being $35 + $5 + $15 = $55 for 300 anytime minutes, unlimited PCS-to-PCS minutes, and unlimited internet use.

thats not bad. i dont know how many minutes i use per day but i dont imagine i use more the 300 during the day and mostly use it during the night. I will have to look at the coverage in PA but I will think about it. Its free incoming calls right?

I would honestly look at the Treo 700w or 700p.

The difference between the two is that the W is windows mobile while the P is palm software. Palm software has less to offer and is fast. The windows mobile can do many things, but it is slow as balls if you ask me. I program these every day :x (that includes the Q)

Both fat and ugly.

honestly, i don't give a damn about ugly if the phone does everything i want it to. It isn't like a piece of clothing that i have out all the time. I have it out when i use it and it makes me happy that it will always work. When i am done with it, it goes back into the pocket.

It's an honest concern. Really. Your phone is worse than 1999 era PDA's. The thing is too bulky.

Man that's cheap :Q Unfortunately Sprint has craptacular service in my area :( I don't know if I'd use the data portion of the Q enough to warrant $110 a month (1350 minutes), and I can't live on the $80 a month plan (450 minutes). Hmm...

If Sprint's reception in my area was better, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately Verizon is the only good mobile option around here :p

Battery life on sprint version of Q is quite impressive. I can get by with charging it every other day. I don't use the bluetooth, but I talk a decent amount and send texts.

Press the home key then the space bar...it will lock the phone.

Then the left pad + asterix will unlock it:)

I use the Q for work with Verizon. There has been a recent update that really increases the battery life. If you are looking for a phone for her to do calendaring with it will work fine.
