The difference between the two is that the W is windows mobile while the P is palm software. Palm software has less to offer and is fast. The windows mobile can do many things, but it is slow as balls if you ask me. I program these every day :x (that includes the Q)

Both fat and ugly.

honestly, i don't give a damn about ugly if the phone does everything i want it to. It isn't like a piece of clothing that i have out all the time. I have it out when i use it and it makes me happy that it will always work. When i am done with it, it goes back into the pocket.

I chose the Q over the Treo700w for my work phone. It really depends what you're looking for in a phone. No, there's no touch screen, but what do I need that for? I wanted something for messaging and calendaring and the Q was far superior to the Treo for that. For a smartphone, I don't think you need a touch screen.

I also like the keyboard better than the Treo.

I have the extended battery and no issues with battery life. Make sure you use push e-mail.

The demo unit Verizon gave us was horrendous. It locked up quite frequently and would often just drop an EVDO signal.

Its not called the Q killer for nothing ;)

Edit:Pic so sexy isnt it? smaller and thinner then the Q

he has VZN. HTC devices are all GSM based at this point i believe.........good point though :(

True, i realy dont get why ppl like CDMA, GSM is much more flexible and better coverage (worldwide) and changing carriers is a breeze.

The only thing i have against that dash is that it isnt dual simm :( (wifi is a little flaky too)

Wow, hot. But Verizon is so good in my area, it replaced my housephone. Are there any PDAs with EVDO that are in the same size-range as the Q? As I read more and more user reviews of the Q, the conclusion is that it blows chunks. Bummer :(

Well the Q isnt a PDA its a smartphone, i guess the Pearl would be the closest thing but the keyboard blows as$nutts. BBs are good for what they do (email, email, email)

True, but the OP's key words were 'Wife' and 'Calendar'. Running linux, windows, palm or asdalsdj OS will mean apprx. pi*fvck all to her (Sorry to all the gadget laden ladies out there, I know there are litterally tens of you). :p

traded in my blackberry for a q. I like it much better, get the extended batter and a 512 memory stick and your good to go. Calendar syncs easily with outlook. I am not so unrealistic to think that any smartphone/blackberry handheld would be bug free but the lockups and few and far between.

I didn't like the Q when I was evaluating phones. I went with the samsung sch-i730. Touch screen, qwerty keyboard, WiFi, comes with two batteries. No regrets so far.

You can use PDANet to tether to your laptop. Technically it's not legal but VZW can't tell the difference in traffic. The only thing you have to be careful of is not going over 5GB of traffic per month. $30 for the software and they have a free trial below.

Also, there is a f/w update for the Q that came out I think back in December which is supposed to dramatically improve battery life.

It's not that it is illegal (as in against the law) per se, it violates the t&c of your agreement w VZW. They don't want you to be able to do it. I've been using PDANet for about 9 months now, I pretty much live out of hotels and when I'm not actually in the hotel (ie at the job site, in the car, wherever) I use it all the time to stay on the net and it rocks.

I just bought it a couple weeks ago. great investment.

Well, I got to play with my friend's Q today and I have to say I really like it. I don't expect it *not* to lock up once in awhile, seeing as how it's a complex system...even my Motorola v710 has the occasional lockup or glitch. It's no iPhone, but it's hardly bigger than my v710 (thinner too!) and has all the features I want (phone, Google Maps, calendar, notes), plus plenty of fun software to experiment with. My contract isn't up until the end of April, so who knows if something better will come along, but for now I'll plan on the Q. Looks like we'll have 2 - one for me, one for my wife :D

I've had the Q on Sprint for about 2 weeks now. I'm pretty happy with it. It has it's quirks, thanks to Windows, but I love it. It's nice to always have an internet connection and a notepad at hand, tied to a pretty easy to use keyboard. The battery life isn't amazing if you use it heavily for anything other than making calls and playing some games, but it'll last throughout the day. It locks up every once in a while (had it happen twice so far) and Sprint is retarded and forces it to reboot after they push out a software update, but I would definitely recommend it.

verizon know has the wx - which has 2x the amount of memory, makes that windows mobile much much faster.

yeah i am looking at it too. I want a new phone and am tired of having no fetures on my phone. I was going to get the Envy but I like the idea of the smart phones. My question is...if I dont get the data package that costs like 80 bucks a month will i get anything out of the phone? Is there some cheaper package for verizon?

Switch to Sprint. $15 a month.
