is all their shit down right now? I try to login and it says my id is inactive. I call a few numbers and it's a busy signal after going through some menus. Did they get nuked from orbit?

Yes, planned outage

The message was at the top of the page for the last month or so. When was the last time you logged in?

I was trying to do the same thing and just signed on to AT to ask the same question. I tried their numbers and everything was down.

It seems they are having trouble - just got this when I tried to log-on:

Your User ID and Password are inactive

few days ago... I guess the warning wasn't in a flashy red blinking banner or something. ;) They've never heard of putting up a message WHILE IT'S UNAVAILABLE?

what's with a planned outage at peak internet hours? Their IT dept. doesn't like working off-shift? This better be something that takes 12 hours. Only then is that a valid excuse.

I'm on hold with them right now. I tried to log into the Chase Android app and it said too many login attempts were made and the account is locked so I had to call to have it unlocked.

One would think if they had a planned outage they could put it on chase.com - "Some customers may experience problems logging into chase.com" Then again... this is Chase...

*EDIT* Good to know, Ns1. Guess I'll stop wasting my time.

A phone message would help too... "If you're calling because you cannot access your account on chase.com please be aware the site will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance until..."

lol yeah I don't know who thought up the time

It was in a yellow box that was titled "SITE AVAILABILITY"

I'm not sure how long it's been up there and it could have been a few different outages that rolled together, but I've seen it up there for a while and I log in every couple days.

I notice they scheduled this maintenance outside of bank hours too... oh well... I'm sure nobody will need to do any banking until tomorrow anyway, right?

Chase makes me sad. They sure as hell find a way to get other ridiculous banners and product advertisements on their site. How about a message about their online banking system being down? I guess I'm just being unreasonable...

From 1991 until 2007 I used a small independent bank and Wells Fargo starting in 2004 for my banking needs. Then I switched it all to Chase because its many locations back in 2009.

Its a double edged sword banking where practically everyone else does. On balance, it sucks. :(

The warning has been there for a while. It was the very first thing on the page. It was a giant yellow box that messed up the usual format and was right in your face. If you log on with any sort of regularity, your first thought would be "WTF?" then you'd read the box that took the place of your usual account info. It was there... I saw it many times. No need to get pissy over something YOU missed and YOU forgot.

Plus there's very little you can't do from their ATMs. If it's that damned important get your ass off the computer and go to the ATM.

What if I don't log on with any sort of regularity? Or what if I log on using the mobile app where no such message box appears? Or what if I'm just a paying customer that expects the product I'm paying for to work when I need to use it or at least give an accurate error message when it doesn't?

Yeah... I'm in the wrong. What's MY problem?

I need to transfer money from a personal acct to a joint acct by the time I give my kids' school a check in the morning. Even though it may take a few days to be cashed, I'm not risking a bounced check so if it's not fixed by morning this will screw up a lot of things. It's my fault for not noticing the message earlier, but they honestly didn't put it in a good place if I didn't see it. When I load a site like that I look right at the login box. Putting a message at the top of the page when the rest of the page is full of text does not make that message obvious. I live on the web all day and it wasn't blatantly obvious 2 days ago. Did they at least say how long this will last?
