Yeah, can you link to it? I'm in the process of looking at all my options...

1) X1800XT Crossfire Ed + Crossfire mobo
2) Upgrade: X1900XT(X) + X1900 Crossfire Ed + Crossfire mobo (pricey)
3) Upgrade: X1900XT(X)
4) 7900GT(X) single or SLI
5) no upgrade

Well, that's why I'm wondering... Are the RD580 mobo's delayed? Any info on a DFI board?

This picture from CES is the only thing I've seen on it.

I think that that is not a working design...... I am not sure but i think thats DFI's AM2 model because it has a lovley mounting box around the CPU. Anyone confirm this?

Get your ATI RD580 today
we managed to find out that you can actually buy an Asus RD580 based motherboard today, and that 13 boards were in stock in time of writing this story. A8R32-MVP DELUXE features a top bundle, which usually includes bunch of Asus related software and goodies, such as a Wi-Fi adaptor. The board of course, combines an ATI RD580 NorthBridge chip with Nvidia ULI M1575 SouthBridge.

ATi launches RD580 Before CeBit

and

RADEON XPRESS 3200 [R580] is scheduled to launch on the very first day of March . . . . http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=29830

Some google cache pics as well. I wonder why all these articles are getting pulled... I mean if there was an NDA, wouldn't it be clear abut the date of expiration?

I'm really looking forward to DFI's version. The ASUS looked nice but I'm a little disappointed that the max fsb Anandtech was able to attain was 322MHz. That's only 4MHz over the Ultra-D. Where are the 350MHz+ wonder boards?

The Neo2 was one of those wonder boards :p

Maybe old tech > new tech ;)

Nah seriously, the Abit AN8 Ultra did up to 400 IIRC, amongst others.

Out of curiosity what kinds of FSB does the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe obtain?

Only about 300-310MHz from what I've seen. Pretty good but not good enough. :frown:

Asus has the manual in pdf available for download in their support section for the A8R32-MVP Deluxe if anyone is interested. Obvioulsy, you won't get any performance stats, but it confirms the specs. RD580 + M1575 + Sil SATA controller.

Anybody see Anandtech's post about the RD580? Looks like the Asus board will be out on March 1st and the DFI board will follow 10 days later. Abit is also making a board but it won't be out until later in March. Can't wait for some reviews.

RD480 + Asus + 2 x 1900 Crossfire = Problems
. . . . We managed to get two Asus A8R-MVP motherboards as we thought that we have a faulty board but it didn?t help. It just continued to crush and crash with two X1900 cards but was perfectly stable with two X1600s for the whole time.

The only scenario where we almost got the machine stable was with a single memory module plugged inside. This will degrade your memory performance drastically but managed to get the system a little bit more stable.

We spoke with ATI's top shot motherboard engineer and he told us that it either had some power problems and as the memory acted strangely he said that it could be a BIOS prob as well. We hope he is right as we failed to test two X1900 Crossfire cards on this setup. Luckily for ATI, the RD580 works rocks stable with those two cards and we are talking first hand here.

We will let you know if we resolve the problems with two X1900 Crossfire card and Asus A8R-MVP board but if you want to buy two X1300 or two X1600 even the two X1800 this might be the right board for you, I just can not recommend it to anyone that wants X1900 cards inside. Give it a week or so and you may have something to be enthusiastic about.

My X1900XTX laughed at my Thermaltake Purepower 680W power supply. Beep, beep, beep... It had 15a on 2 12v rails. I picked up a CompUSA 600W single rail PSU with 30a on the 12v and it's working fine.

1900 may have problems with dual rail PSU's

Actually, it looks like it's an issue with RD480 + X1900's + dual rail PSU. Additionally, the Inq apparently had the same problems with dual GTX 512's and a dual rail PSU as well. Just to show the whole story...

This specific problem reminded us on the same problem that we had with two Geforce 7800 GTX 512 cards.

Yeah, the A8R32-MVP Dlx is nice. Too bad it's way over priced at the moment and not really available yet. I've been happy with my A8R-MVP for the moment though, it's cheap and I picked it up locally at Fry's. I was pretty set on getting a CrossFire mobo locally because I wanted to have an easy return if there were problems. A lot of the foums I have read kinda scared me, but so far she's proven to be everything that I expect from Asus. Then again, I'm not much of an overclocker...
