Anyone going to buy a car this year?

I think we will be looking for a nice 4-Door. I like the G37 or the G8 (once/if they offer a manual).

If I find a better job by this summer I'll hold on to my 02 Max and try to convince my wife we need a GT-R in a year or two but everytime I see the maintenance costs I think it may be better to just get a CPO 997 TT.

How about an option for bought a car?

I bought a car in February. Now I am trying to figure out if the tax credit for a new vehicle purchase applies to foreign manufacturers. I read somewhere that it was domestic only.

I bought a 2009 BMW 335i sedan.

Lease is up in 4 months... nothing out there interests me for what I'm willing to pay, so... we'll see.

I didn't answer the poll...as I'm not 100% certain that I'll be purchasing this year...may wait one more year. And the wife and I have not completely narrowed down our choices. We've been all over the place with possible cars. Currently the front runner is 2010 Golf GTI. My only requirement is that it is stick, fun to drive, and the less "showy"...the better. Utility would be nice...but not 100% required and my wife would like good gas mileage...although I really don't care So far we've considered:

BMW 135/328/335 - Great cars...a little high on the "showy" meter for us
Audi A4/A5/TT - All great cars, a little high on the "showy" meter for us, and TT would completely fail on a utility test.
Subaru WRX STI, Outback - STI is a bit much and while the Outback is fantastic from a utility standpoint...pretty boring to drive
Nissan 370Z - Lots of fun...complete fail for utility/practicality and a little to "look at me" for us
Pontiac G8 GXP - My wife is not huge on the looks and gas mileage...I'm all for this one
Chevy Camaro - My wife likes the looks marginally better than the G8..a little less utility... will definitely test drive when it comes out
Acura TSX - Neither of us love the looks...but a nice package overall...not a BMW or Audi...but still a little high on the "showy" meter
Corvette - Too "look at me" for us and fails at practicality/utility
Toyota Prius - My wife likes...but it fails pretty much every requirement I have for a vehicle
Infiniti G37 - Great car...again a little high on the "showy" meter for us.

The GTI pretty much passes all of our requirements right now and we both like the way it looks/drives (well I've only driven a Mark V...but was very happy with it). The only question might be reliability...but that is low on my concerns.

Our SUV's MPG is in the teens so mileage isn't our foremost concern but now that we no longer have to pack "the stuff" when we go places with our kids and our dog doesn't go on every trip; we are considering down-sizing. She likes the G8 and is leaning towards a domestic product but I really like the G37 sedan.

My wife and I both prefer manuals but we had had our fair share of electrical gremlins that pop up in German cars. I love the road feel and the great powertrains but constant CELS and trips to the dealer get annoying.

Nope.
We are set for at least 3-4 years (see sig)

Accord bought in Nov, Lexus bought in June 2006... Civic just sold and I30 sold

Does it come in stick? My wife doesn't like the look of it...and i'm not huge on the giant razor for a grill...but I'd definitely do a test drive if it had a stick.

Sadly, I don't think it does, but the 6-speed auto-stick has garnered some pretty good praise other than some kinks that will hopefully get worked out before it ships.

I'm really wanting a stick...not as important as my wife...but very important to me. I've considered the dual clutch transmissions...but even there...I really want a stick. We'll see if my mind changes.

Getting a stick is less important than your wife? Good God man, your priorities are all backward! Getting a stick should be far more important 😉

LOL. I really do. 😀

My wife cares less about whether we get a car with a stick or not...she'd probably be just as happy with an automatic...but just not for me yet...I still love shifting on my own.

At the end of December we bought an 04 MPV and within the last 30 days I bought an older Tacoma and now I'm looking for an older Chevy Z71.
