Anyone going to buy a car this year?

I knew it was a joke 😉

Chunkee, I knew you were in Knox Vegas.

nope, purchased mine last year when gas was really expensive. Got a hell of deal on a 2008 Chevy Tahoe LTZ.

minivan probably but only if we get that gov't trade-in thing to pass... otherwise it's no rush.

Looking at the 2008-09 Avalon and 2009 Camry SE - both used. Since they're built in KY are they domestic? 😉

no. they are vehicles for people who hate america and want to see american jobs shipped overseas

Good to know - I'll get one of each then.

If I buy any form of motor vehicle this year it will be a Ducati Monster 1100 S.

That's it....
End of story...
Bye bye...😛

Family bought an '09 Civic just this past December. They thought Japanese meant indestructable, then when there was a leak, they got very frustrated.

If I find a job (god willing) in my field in another city, I might look into a used domestic or foreign.

Um, what leaked? Was the problem fixed? Seems kind of premature to get "very frustrated" over something that could be extremely minor...then again, you didn't really give us ANY details at all either.

I actually started an entire thread on it a few weeks ago🙂.

To sum up, someone/something missed a line of welding between the engine and passenger compartment. Over the winter, during the freeze and thaw cycles, water managed to get into the cabin. However, because so little got in, we didn't notice until the gas/trunk latch on the floor froze. We thought it was due to snow being tramped in by the drivers' shoes.

This got fixed a week ago, but the carpets were ruined, and had to be replaced, then they didn't re-attach the left foot stool tightly, so back again. One asswipe at the dealer even gave us attitude. The frustration came from the myth that a new car would be a godsend, and be completely flawless in any way whatsoever because they've been driving used their entire lives.

Well, nothing is completely flawless. You've got to be realistic here.

Just curious, is the 2009 Civic made in the US? When I bought my Maxima I got the last of the 2003 model year which was made in Japan. The 2004 model year and on is made in the US and they had a bunch of quality issues with that car for the first couple years. Not sure if they've gotten those all straightened out or not.

My car hasn't been flawless but it has been pretty good overall.

That is one huge PITA if you have endless problems on a new vehicle. That's the last thing you want even if it's 100% covered. Even on the BMW forums, people have had their vehicle bought back because of the lemon law (3x same issue). Some guy had 2 different vehicles bought back and he finally just went and bought a Range Rover instead (ironic). It's a very small percentage, but if you're the unlucky one, that simply sucks donkey ass.
