Anyone getting Wii Fit this week?

Remember it's Wednesday, come Sunday they will be SOLD OUT for probably many weeks until another batch is shipped. Nobody shops for these things today and still they managed to be sold out.

A hot gadget like this will definitely be near impossible to find all summer. Given the hype and the casual fanbase.

I was gifted one. It's on the FS/T forum.

At $35 over retail? No thanks...

cheaper than anywhere you will find online ATM. I'd sell it for less, if you cover the shipping.

Didn't realize it was 10 pounds! My mistake 😉

I guess you didn't realize paypal isn't free and there is also something called sales tax...

You didn't pay sales tax though, if you were gifted one...

You didn't pay sales tax though, obviously.

What? Sales tax is part of any purchase...? And, should be included when you consider the MSRP of an item.

WHAT? My mother paid sales tax when she bought it at Best Buy. In that case, I didn't pay anything for it but I'm not going to lose money on her behalf.

If I return it, I will get about $96. But I'd rather sell it online than ask her for the receipt 😉

Oh lol shit, check out this video:

Alpha soccer moms going ape shit over the Wii Fit freebee (dont blame them really)--starts about 60% in.

Oh my god that was hilarious. She gave them the fit AND a wii and they all went crazy. Say what you want about the crap games and graphics etc, but Nintendo has hit a nerve with the casual market. I cannot imagine that reaction with a 360 or ps3.

no you don't understand, they tell them to applaud before they offer the gifts. It's part of show biz.

they cheer even when they get a free toothbrush.

Anyone else with a size 13 or larger foot have issues using this barefoot or in sock feet? Either you have to have a bit of toe or heel off the board? dammit that makes some of the balancing and yoga stuff difficult, if i have my heel all the way on i have to grip the front w/ my toes, if I have my toes completely on my heel hangs off just a bit.

guess I'll just have to do it in shoes, which makes some of the yoga positions uncomfortable

Yeah I've got 13s and they stick off a bit, but I'm getting used to it. The bigger problem for me is that my ceiling is only 9 feet and I'm 6'2", so I simply cant properly do the yoga poses that require you to stretch your arms all the way up.

But yeah, theres no question its a workout - just went at it for a total of 60 mins and I'm definitely sweating.

The yoga poses are excellent and you definitely feel the stretch and burn on some of them, but again, theyre a little difficult for me to do in my place. Its also somewhat difficult to tell if youre doing it properly when youre unable to look at the screen while you do it.

The strength training obviously works as well, but the balance board can do only so much. Just like with the yoga, it really helps if theres someone else there to help you get the form right, but it does a fairly decent job. I'm also pretty broad shouldered, and the board just doesnt feel wide enough for me to do a proper pushup.

The aerobics are interesting - if youre hula hooping and running in place like mad you definitely build up a sweat, but running in place just doesnt feel right. The beginner step also isnt nearly fast enough to get you sweating, but I havent tried the advanced step yet. Still though, running in place is better than nothing at all.

The balance games are kinda fun, but theyre not much of a workout. Much better as a cooldown.

Overall it definitely works as advertised, but most of the beginner stuff is a little too easy. Thats not entirely unexpected as I'm not completely out of shape. It has to be one size fits all to start - I had no problem with the pushups but my girl couldnt do one proper set. I'm sure once I unlock more reps on the strength training it'll be far more valuable.

I wish it had a few less menus, and that youd be able to control it entirely with the balance board - its a bit annoying to have to keep picking up and putting down the wiimote. It would also have been a nice touch if you could program in a predetermined workout routine - theres a lot of button pressing involved between excercises that I could do without.

Still though, I think the most valuable thing will be the way it charts your BMI/weight change over time. In my mind its video game like any other, if I dont see that graph slope down then I'm not winning the game, and thats my motivation.

Like any other nintendo product its polished to an extreme, but I'm sure the clones are already in production. Maybe someone else will create an even more hardcore workout game, but I doubt itll have the same fit and finish. But its a really unique product, and I totally dig it.

There is a guy who bought 3 of them from Wal-Mart here in town and is charging $140 each. He posted his cell phone # on craigslist. Bwah haha...

I need to buy a silicone cover for the board. I don't like the rough surface of the board, it digs into my hands and feet after a while. My feet are exactly the same size as the width of the board, and my center of balance is on my heels, so after a while of standing on the board, my right heel hurts a little bit from the board's rough surface.

The yoga moves are tough. My waist doesn't have a lot of lateral flexibility, so some of the moves are hard for me to do. I have hard floor in the living room and carpet in my bedroom. Highly advice you do this on carpet unless you have a large yoga mat that covers all 4 sides of the board.

I call bullshit. Either the Wii fit board is a foot tall or you're ceilings are not 9 feet.

I am 6'4" with a 6'7" wingspan and I can only reach 8'2".

I wonder if he meant a 7 foot ceiling, since standard is 8 foot?

In any event, yeah i almost put my hands into my ceiling fan the first time due to concentrating so hard on following what the trainer was doing.

That must be it then. I never actually measured my ceiling height, but I was under the impression that a standard ceiling was 10 feet high. Whatever it is, mine is about a foot shorter, thats just how basement apartments go. I absolutely cannot reach my arms over my head without bashing them into the ceiling. If it was a standard height, I dont think I'd really have a problem.

I think in most commerical buildings a standard story is 10 feet, but that leaves a foot above and below per floor for support structure and/or drop ceiling type framework

Mine arrived today from Amazon. Pretty fast for standard free shipping. But I'm too tired to open it tonight. Work has been killer recently. So much work and so little time. When you're doing physical labor all day long, working out is kind of redundant.

Mine arrived today as well after stupid UPS delayed it for a day.

Seems fun so far, the wife really likes it. I can see it becoming another dust covered peripheral exercise machine though in the future if one isnt dedicated though.

Apparently it sold 650K copies in day one, making it Nintendo's biggest one day money maker in history.

Woke up too late and now it's sold out when I went to Target and Best Buy. Fortunately my gf knew how much of a lazy ass I was and got up early and picked up one Best Buy.

She roolz and I droolz...
