Anyone excited for OnePlus?

My order is still "processing" since I ordered it later in the day Friday - probably won't receive it til Thursday if it ships tomorrow.

With the new update today, what steps should I take to make sure I'm on the latest ROM before I start customizing, adding my accounts, etc?

By the time you get it, it will prompt you for an update as soon as you connect to WiFi and you will be in the setup your phone phase so you it will update itself and you will need to set it up again.

Ok, something I just noticed post flash. Prior to the update my second largest drain on my battery was Google Play Services. Now it's not even in the list. I'll keep an eye on this and report my own anecdotal "evidence" over the next few days.
Let me know how that goes. I've already applied wakelock terminator to GPS a while ago.

This is actually my first time using CM and I have to say I like it. The settings are a bit scattered, but it has basically all of the essential tweaks that I really like. Just might be the difference maker that has me returning the G3 (well that and the G3's battery life not being as good as I expected).

So, could I hook it up to wifi and have the phone update itself before I start putting in any personal information? I'd rather not have to do it twice.

Yea it asks you during the setup to connect to wifi. You select yes, choose your access point and connect. Then it will ask you for your Google account. In the middle of signing in to that it will way there is an update and it will update and reboot.

Anybody have an invite that they don't mind hooking me up with? I've been waiting and am enrolled in their forums etc and all their contests but have yet to receive an invite. By the time I do get one maybe the One plus Two will be out by then lol.

Add your name to the spreadsheet in the first post. I have not received any invites to share from them yet even though I bought one.

So much for a refund. Here is the email response I got.

Honestly, if you are so unhappy about it, sell it for a loss on ebay or somewhere. Then get another one plus or another phone... Otherwise looks like your SOL. If it bothers me like you, that's what I will do.

On another note, did everyone's phones ship via USPS? Mine did and I haven't gotten any updates except the "pre-shipment" notification

Their return policy is 14 days. I initially asked for a refund in my original email. Going to send another one today stating just that.

I shouldn't have to lose money on it and I shouldn't have to lie to sell it because people on Swappa do know about the yellow band issue. I'll take it with me on vacation and try to sell it at my friend's location.

But really a cut and paste reply? The screen is just warm, that's the design, it's normal. I can't believe people buy that crap.

It's like purchasing a car and you notice some strange noise. But the owner tells you well it's been inspected and passed. If you keep the Windows up the noise is not an issue.

Got mine yesterday.

1. The packaging and included accessories are top notch - substantially better than Apple's without going overboard. I do wish they came with earbuds as I go through them pretty quickly.

2. The clear case you can order is extremely slim but basically gives no protection in a drop. All it will keep is your back and sides from being scratched.

3. The phone build quality is good, but the back material feels cheaper than I expected (though does not attract fingerprints). I'd say overall it's similar in solidness to the G2, feels a bit better in build quality than the Note 3, but not an iPhone/M8 feel.

4. The overall experience is not that dissimilar to my Note 3 - in fact if you already have a Note 3, then unless you just want to play around with a new phone, there really is no incentive to switch. I was running a custom ROM that came with a GPE theme (Dynamic Kat 4.2) so overall I can do pretty much the same things on both phones.

CM has a bunch of built in customization which is fine, but nothing wow. One thing I do appreciate is that you can have the phone unlock after the 4th digit of your PIN, instead of having to click Ok.

Unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP, and rooting was ridiculously easy.

5. I'm running a cheap hard plastic screen protector until my Orzly glass protector arrives. So I'm guessing it's what's diminishing touch response compared to the Note 3 - I'll withhold judgement until the glass protector comes.

6. And yes, I do have the yellow at the bottom of the screen. It's not horrible, but I can notice it. I'll try the sun method for a while and see if it gets better.

A little disappointed with my OnePlus One. The speaker phone volume is too quite along with the ear piece. I also can't adjust my alarm clock volume.

When I open volume controls I see a slider for alarms.

My only current gripe is that the "OK Google" detection is not very good, I have to hold the phone very close for it to detect.

That is one of the main bug fixes for the new update we haven't received yet 🙂

Here's the full change log for the update, which should be fully deployed by the end of this week:

Upgraded to Android 4.4.4
Updated to new versions of Google apps
Added Clear Image
Added new (colder) calibration for the screen
Proximity sensor prevents activation of off-screen gestures while in your pocket
Capacitive touch keys supported in the recovery mode
Increased capacitive button illumination
Improved overall stability
Fixed issues with vibration being disabled during Quiet Hours
Fixed lockscreen not updating the track information during music playback
Fixed microphone volume for all formats in the Voice Recorder app
Fixed "OK, Google" not triggering voice search in Google Now
Fixed Viber calls not working
Fixed battery percent not updating in custom lock screens
Fixed PicasaSync
Fixed Camera "O" gesture activating lockscreen instead of triggering camera
Fixed wallpapers not applying in full screen, taking the wrong size when cropping, etc
You may have spotted the "Clear Image" as an added feature. OnePlus One is so proud of it, it got its own announcement in the company's forum. It states:

"Clear Image is your camera on clarity steroids. It's your camera over 9000. Once you switch on the new Clear Image mode in the Camera app, nothing but awesomeness will be captured. 10 individual photos are stitched together for a final super high-res photo when you snap a shot. Through interlacing and compression algorithms, the camera improves clarity, reduces noise in low light, and adds detail that other cameras cannot. But this is not all. Unlike other photo stitching software, Clear Image minimizes file sizes while maximizing for quality."
