My friend did. Clocked doing 99 in a 55, this was on 6th in Denver. The DA didn't lower the points at all, just the fine.

hmm, so do you know by how much he lowered it? did he have to do community service?

No community service and I think he paid close to $300 when all was said and done.

BTW he had a pretty much flawless driving record until this incident, and that still didn't help with the points thing. The DA told him she couldn't lower the points at all.

wow $700 fine!!!

i was clocked going 90 in 65 in NY (rt 81S) on July 4th. Was on my way back from Niagara falls. In all honestly, i really dont think I was going 90. maybe 85. and I was keeping pace with traffic. I dunno why the trooper singled me out. Myabe cuz of my flashy red car...

I still dont know what my fine is going to be. I have to mail in the ticket slip he gave me with an explanation for said conduct. The judge then decides on what to do

this raises the question. what is the proper way to address a Judge on a letter?
Your Honorable Judge?

It also depends on where you got busted, what county was it? Denver is a lot more leinant then other counties in the Denver Metro area. My friend got off easy really, doing 44 over the limit.

I'm just lucky I've never been caught, I drive exactly like him.

You are lucky that you didn't get a reckless driving and take you away to jail for 10days.

I got a 54 in a 25 once. I tried to fight it without consulting or having a lawyer, and it didn't go so well. I didn't know that in Washington you have to subpoena the officer(s) who got you; they don't appear at the hearing otherwise, and all that's used for their side of the story is what they have in their report.

Long story short is the judge threw the book at me - $550 fine and IIRC, 6 points for insurance.

I'd talk to a lawyer or at least research how the laws work in your state if you plan to fight it.

Where did you get it and which department gave you the ticket?
Denver, State Patrol, Aurora?
