Make sure you wash them down with a few mojitos.Originally posted by: burnedout
The conch fritters there are absolutely delicious.

You'll want to do the Duval Street thing one night. Take a cab (trust me on this) and check out all the bars and clubs. There's even a clothing-optional one if you're feeling sporty.
Other than that, check out the street performers down on the docks at sunset, charter a snorkling trip on one of the big sailboats (the women that crew the big catamaran are hot....I'd recommend that one), eat some good fresh seafood, etc.

I remember the aquarium was very nice but it has been probably a decade since I have been down that way. Also, a popular favorite would be Key Lime Pie. I also remember that if you are into cheesy things, you have to go take a picture at the "Southernmost point of the continental US".
Out of curiousity, how does someone out of Florida get there? Is there an airport down there?
Oh, one more thing, my buddy just told me that some season, maybe lobster, just opened up down there and he was going down this week.

Watch out for those $500 tee-shirts. :Q
Have dinner in the hotel at the end of Duval Street. I forgot the name.
Go on one of those sailboat or catamaran cruses.
Get a drink at Sloppy Joes.

Keep your eyes open a bit after you turn out the lights in your motel. They have a strange breed of roaches there that the eyes glow bright green after they crawl out of the TV set.
Yup. There's a reason the flight to KW are expensive.....the drive down there kinda sucks. It's pretty, but it takes forever.Originally posted by: Isla
Lots of interesting history... I remembered why we call it Island of Bones now, lots of dead people on the beach when the Calusa were there.
I have another word of warning for you... it will take FOREVER to get from Key Largo to Key West. You may go insane before you even get there.

I really should've gone out on the water when in Key West. I hear that the water is super shallow out for quite a ways because of a huge sand bar. The water near Sanibel Island and Ft Meyers Beach wasn't bad at all. Lots of white sandy beaches.

Mmmmm... Sanibel/Captiva. Can't beat that!
You are right, Key West has piss for a beach... but the snorkeling is great. And if you aren't interested in the wild night life (I'm not a bar/club person myself) there is a lot of history... my 98 year old grandmother tells me all kinds of stuff about how it was like when she was a girl down there.

Not if you stay over at Holiday Isle for a night.
Watch for the green flash of light just as the Sunsets from the marina then take the elevator to the roof restaurant and watch it again. Then eat dinner go down to the Tiki bar and get smashed.
No wait, call me and I will meet you there and we will all get tanked together.
