anyone else wish their CEO would go on Undercover Boss?

rudeguy

Every time I watch this show, I wish our CEO (whoever it is this year) would go on it.

I understand the decisions my company makes, I just don't think they ever really think about how it affects the customers or us employees.

Anyone else in the same boat?

When I worked for call centers, yes. I saw tons of people get fired for mistakes that the higher-ups made. Then the higher-ups would correct their mistakes months too late and act like no one lost their jobs.

Also with retail a long time ago when I worked for Pac Sun. They pay you shit and expect you to do like 5 peoples jobs.

If the CEOs would just work a day in the lower positions in their own company, it would clue them into a lot of things that are wrong. Happy employees = happy customers in my mind.

I don't work. But all it is is to advertise.

Say wut?

Anyways, the CEO's they have on the show are in the vast minority. Most CEO's don't have the slightest interest in their customers or employees. They only care what the board thinks and about getting their next bonus. You'd think there would be a connection but, I've never noticed any.

yes... id love to see the governor and all the legislators each have to spend several sdays in each of the departments they think they know how to make decisions for.

they wouldnt last a day.

Sadly, I'm thinking this too. Do not understand it at all. Elitist mentality? I'm getting mine and by the time it goes to hell, I'll be rich?

Luckily my CEO came up through the ranks. That and it's a family owned company. He would never make it though undetected, we all see him at least once a year.

The CEO at my work is pretty decent. Got no complaints. My last job though, the rental car place was run by this slimy used car salesman type. He was also as stereotypical a Jew as you can get. I never actually met him. Only time he came to our store for a tour, he never even got out of the car. Sent his ops VP in. We had spent the whole week prepping for the visit, for nothing. I swear he didn't know even a tenth of the crap going on. Company was very poorly run. Middle management being the weakest link. Last I heard, they're in a lot of trouble. I expect Enterprise or Hertz will buy them out eventually.

This post made me laugh. Civil servants to politicians, the dog has always been walking the owner. That's my slice of P&N for the day.

A CEO coming down to our level for a day may make him even more disconnected - it may remind him of why he became a CEO to being with.

Compassion = fair treatment financial sacrifice. Not a worthy trade-off for any CEO/company.

Middle management being the weakest link.

Probably the biggest waste of money in corporate america today.

They're advertising the company and make it look like they care but its a publicity stunt IMHO

And it also assumes that the CEO would care in the first place.
- I don't have to do the job that those people do.
- I don't have to work with them.
- Therefore, I don't need to care about what happens to them. If they get fired, oh well. They can be replaced.

I think it would do most CEOs some good just to see the front lines without being known as a CEO. How could it hurt? Most companies could stand to have a day every few months where you work below your pay grade just to remind you how good you've got it.

Why? What would you expect to happen? That show is as phony as the rest of the "reality" shows on the idiot box.

Most CEO's are incapable of doing the work of anyone more than one level below them which is another reason the show always has them doing entry level work.

No, it's a scam to advertise their business and gain more customers, not improve working conditions. Don't be so easily fooled by the propaganda.
