I've been using MyMileMarker.com since mid April now and it really helps just track what your actually spending on gas and what you're actually getting MPG wise.
The worst part is seeing the projected cost of gas for 1 year
I'm up to $3,921 now
(15k miles a year / 15.3mpg x $4 per gallon)
Anyways if others are in a similar situation as myself and have a dreaded "gas guzzler" and are waiting for the appropriate time to get rid of it to get something more economical, this site is great for helping decide when that finical point has been reached.
At this point if I got the 2009 Forester, which is what I plan on getting, the combined MPG on that is 22mpg, which is 20 city and 27 highway. that's a $99 a month cost savings in gas versus my Tahoe I currently have, but with how much more the monthly loan payment would be it just doesn't add up at this point, it'd still cost more to get the Forester than keep my Tahoe per month when monthly payment and gas is factored in.
