That doesn't work, torrent stays slow. It sucks.

It works on a tit-for-tat system. If you limit uploads, you shouldn't be able to download fast. Who cares if you upload? You want all these people to upload you free stuff, but you won't contribute?

You are an idiot.

It also guarantees the downloads. It checks every byte of the file to make sure that you have the whole thing. When you finish a file on BT, you know it's the right file.

It's pretty meh, though it has helped me a few times.

I rarely download faster than I upload, which sucks...and I've tried 2 different clients that are supposed to limit upstream but when I monitor my network traffic, I learn that they aren't limiting it at all. When my upload maxes out I am lucky to get 15-20KB/sec download. Now if I could keep my upload at say 7-10KB/sec, I could easily get 100+ download.

6881-6889 IIRC

yup, this jumped my speeds from what you are getting to 200+ kb/sec at times.

If specific ports need to be opened for BT to work well shouldn't it be part of the install process? Or at least in an included readme.txt file?

Amateur sh!t if you ask me...

how many bt dls do you have at one time? I usually at 3 and it seems like anything more than that kills the speed of every window ...

BT rocks. I've never had better success with anything else. Yeah, IRC is a great resource, but you often end up waiting for hours in someone's queue only to find out they can only upload at 20 KB/s when your turn finally comes around. Screw the newsgroups... my damn news server is always missing posts and I'm not going to pay for a news server when I can get anything want from BT, IRC, or an FTP.

Dont like it. Newsgroups and IRCspy are all you need these days anyway. Knowing people with dump sites doesnt hurt, either.

Of course BT sucks... at really good speeds IMO :)

At least I can get my 786k DSL line peaked with most downloads. Of course a nice FTP is the non-plus ultra but finding a fast one is a pain... unless you visit a LAN ;)
