Well played sir, well played.

Check out lifehacker. They have a bunch of links and articles all about getting the most out of your iphone.

Well that was an interesting 180.

I can't believe we contributed to the purchase of another apple product.

Really it was more all the other stuff the phone offers that sold it and basically accepting the texting for what it was.

I bought into the verizon FUD about tiered dataplans so I decided to act sooner rather than later. My contract was up. And it was only a net cost of $15 a month to me. Somehow I had some "vcast" thing tacked on my current bill I had no idea I was paying for (yay e-bills!) and that was $15 by itself. The dataplan replaced it and was an extra $15.

The iphone is without question a better built and more polished device to operate. The aftermarket accessory support and integration is also without equal. Then the app store and everything else it offers is just icing.

My MP3 player is crapping out on me right now and I needed something else to replace it and I loathed the idea of carrying two devices. So I just sucked it up and going to force myself to get used to the touch screen on this thing for typing. I still hate it. We'll see what my opinion is 30 days from now.

how unstable is it? my ex used to complain her ipod would get super unstable, but i JBed my iPod Touch 1G, helped another friend JB a iPod Touch 2G and I JBed my own iPod touch 4G recently. Never any stability problems. I ran with stock for a while too, and I haven't seen much of a difference.

If there are app stability issues, those are strictly app only because I've seen App Store updates giving me fixes for those crashes.

A lot of little things don't perform like they should. I've being doing custom roms and hacks since WinMo and honestly hacks will NEVER be stable.

I hear so much from other users and developers saying "Oh its fast, smooth, super stable". Yeah right its all BS. But its the sacrifice you choose if you want customization.

That's the beauty of the iPhone, it's pretty straightforward, you can make it much more complicated if you jailbreak it and mod it a bit...

I need a better web zoom tool if there is one. I can sign into my web outlook for work with it, but I can't zoom in enough to really accurately hit the folders/emails. Any ideas? Are there other web browsers you can use?

Pinch to Zoom not working for you?

I think that Opera Mobile is on the iPhone, but I haven't used mine since November, and I only ever used Safari anyway.

Errr, web zoom on the iPhone is the best in the business. Just do a pinch zoom.

Most phones now have pinch zoom.

Yeh I finally fingered that out. The instructions tell you to double tap, which I figured out earlier, but the pinch thing took a little more fumbling around.

Just keep playing around with it, rotating, pinching, swiping all that jazz, you'll be less dumb in no time :)

One thing I'm still fighting with (other than the touchscreen for typing) is the lack of "cancel" or "end" keys.... Or if it exists, I haven't found it.

I don't like that it "sticks" on the last page I was at. For example, if I'm browsing through the app store looking up some random flashlight app, want it to just "close" and reset the app. But that key doesn't exist as far as I can see. So I hit "home" and go about my business. Then decide I want to go look for another app and open the store and it goes back to my flashlight search from earlier.

Same thing with the messaging app. Same thing with phone calls. Ect.

It's cool for somethings...like pandora remembering where I last was. But annoying for most others.

Am I doing something wrong?

No you're not, you aren't closing any apps when you hit the home button, you are 'pausing' them if that makes sense. I think that you can then close apps out if you double click the home button and then press and hold on the apps that come up.

Double clicking the home button brings up the app switcher, swipe right and audio playback controls come in, swipe left to go through the currently open apps.
