Just wondering if anybody else is going to be up at 12am PST tonight to get in on the preorder for existing customers of verizon.

I'm EST and plan on setting my alarm for like 2:50am and just getting up to preorder this thing.

It's gonna suck but I just want to guarantee that I can get in on one. I hadn't upgraded since my new every 2 ended like last July and am still on a Samsung Gleam flip phone, a nd was kind of holding out for CES this past January to see if an iPhone was announced for Verizon. If it hadn't been, I would have settled for an Android phone, although not liking them as much as iPhones. However, AT&T service was enough to keep me on Verizon.

The average manufacturing cycle for Froyo phones is 6.7 months. That should tell you something.

Seems bit silly to me when there's a 4G phone from HTC coming out a few days later...

I'm not trying to play games, I'm just saying that smartphone technology is changing so rapidly that buying that old of a phone when you have an upgrade only once every 2 years is dumb. But to each their own.

4g is overrated

So's an iphone4 on verizon...

The thunderbolt looks like a much better phone all around. I really don't see why anyone would want the iphone4 over it.

As for 4G being overrated... um... seriously?! How is it "overrated"... If you don't care about how fast data comes to your phone then sure...

well you have to pay a premium for 4G and it wastes a ton more battery power than 3G does (this according to a coworker who has a Sprint 4G phone).

he never uses it in 4G because it's just not worth it to him now.

me personally, i dont give 2 shits about 4G at this point either, and i'm in a 4G area. i'm coming from a total dumbphone and I like hte iOS interface a lot more than Android interface, which is why I'm getting an iPhone. I don't need a super-phone either so all these dual core shits i don't care about that. i also don't care about the openness of the android platform vs iOS.

i also dev for iOS and Android platform as well, but so far my app has been for iOS first then ported to Android, and that is going to happen for my next one as well.

1. sprint charges 10 dollars more for 4g not really a fair comparison
2. experience 4g speeds first before stating something like that.
3.of course 4g uses more battery that shouldnt be a counter argument since a ferrari uses more gas.....
3.(purely my opinion so flame me) iphones are for girls( you are a guy so that tells you something) and uneducated .
4. i just got an android phone so yes im a fanboi lol ( gf had an iphone and yea i didn't like it)

Even Apple fanboys would be better served waiting for the new iPhone that should be out in the summer. Why buy a phone that is guaranteed to drop value in a few months (and not just because all phones do. We know the next one is near to release)? You've waited this long, what's a bit more?

FYI: 4g on Sprint = WiMax
4g on Verizon = LTE

Why draw conclusions on battery life when comparing apples to oranges?
Different frequencies, different radio technology.

Mostly bandwagon people buying into it cuz everyone else has one they want one. And to be fair, some one said if you should buy an iphone wait for the next one since the old one has been out 7+ months and what do you say? " im buying it anyway". UNEDUCATED!!! .
You do realize you are preordering a phone that is almost old enough to be a baby in a womb ready to come out.
I guess if you want it then by all means buy it since your 2years is up or what ever the reason. Just take a step back and look at the facts.

-preorder old ass phone
-you don't care what everyone thinks.
-you will be stuck for 2 years on 3g speeds ( which isn't too bad depending on the user)but Verizon looks to have some promising 4g speeds coming up.

so becaues a phone that is a "whole 7 months" old suits a users needs at the current time and will "lose value" when the value doesn't even matter because there is no plan on reselling a phone, that makes them uneducated?

if it meets the users needs and wants better than any other phone, i'd call that being educated since you weighed the options and decided on what works best for you and not what everyone else says works best.

i've developed apps for iPhone from scratch, and Android ... i'd say that I'm pretty educated. have you done that?

and again, i don't give a shit about 4G speeds at the current time at all, hence why I'm not waiting to get a 4G phone.

I think the answer to the thread is, you're the only person here doing this. Issue closed.

so what new features does the iPhone 5 have?

when is the release date?

release date almost guaranteed to be close to 1 year from iphone4 release date.

features...probably a much faster dual core CPU, better graphics

that alone would be enough for me to wait...but I also see the value of having a phone that serves your immediate needs.

just curious, what phone are you using now?

heh it's right in the OP.

i have a samsung gleam flip phone.

and as of now all the research I could do on iPhone 5 is all speculation, granted I know their yearly release falls in the summer.

that said, the current iPhone is more than enough for my needs. i've used one before as well as quite a few android phones.

if it is enough for me now, it is absolutely pointless for me to wait it out. that is like me upgrading my PC that is 2 years old when it gets the job done for what I use it for, even though there are much faster CPU, vid cards, and RAM out there.
